    Replacing the speaker alone using the stock amp made a difference, but to my ears only half way I would like it to be. So I am considering to take a path of the OP and add amp with a sound processor to lift the desired frequencies.

    Trim removal wasn't so bad, there a few metal clips needed to be moved before putting things back together.

    I have a 2x 2ohm, hope the stock amp can take it. The sub should also have lower resonance frequency and be more sensitive than stock, so it should produce more and cleaner bass without pushing the EQ.
