I was in Conserve the entire trip except for a few instances where I need to pass a slow semi on a two lane road. I switched to All purpose for these instances. I find the Conserve mode too slow to react when I needed quicker acceleration.
No problem with the tailgate. As you can see I fit two bikes in the bed. I used a standard ramp.
Here's a link to my mounting system.

Just returned from the KTM Adventure rally in Idaho in my R1T. I left a week ago Monday with my KTM 790 in the bed. It weighs about 480 lbs and I also had my gear along with a friends gear - maybe 900 lbs payload including me.
The route was pretty simple. I-80 from SF to Winnemucca and then...
Just finished a round trip from SF bay area to Boise Idaho and back. About 900lbs of total payload heading to Boise and about 1300lbs heading back (above).
Summary of return trip is below.
I'll start a new thread with more details but a trip like this with this payload on this route really...
On way to the KTM rally in Idaho- I don’t recommend the Winnemucca to Boise route unless you get a 100% charge at Walmart in Winnemucca. I charged to 256 miles at Walmart and to 196 at Quinn river - 176 miles to Boise Walmart - drafted a semi, drove slow all the way to Boise and just made it
Thanks - looks like I'd purchase two of these (anything else needed?) for mounting on the Rivian bed rails if I go that route?

Seems if you buy the hitch rack one of the trays is fixed and can not be removed.
Great info here. Which 1UP hitch rack are you people using - 2" Super Duty, 2" Heavy duty or 2" Equip-D?
Can the trays be taken off the 1Up Hitch racks and used on the Rivian bed rails if one desires?
Thanks in advance
I found the legacy UI in the Ford slow and pokey and over complicated.
I agree with this assessment:
