I watch/read Volts and Rocky Mountain Intitute for bleeding edge information on renewables including the transportation sector. I avoid the mainstream hype and garbage. They both put out very interesting information on where things are going, and have interviews with scientists and innovators.
I was planning on TWraps' solution, but I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger before our trip because I don't think it would have saved my windshield this time and I'd be out the added cost. I will probably invest once I get my new windshield.
BTW, I've done TWraps PPF all over my Rivian's front...
Just a reminder for those looking to take things apart, there are airbags in various places. An airbag can do a lot of damage to you if it fires off while you have your hands or face in close proximity. If you are unsure of what you are doing, ask someone who knows how to do things properly.
I think a 2 mile follow distance is about right. Also, don't let vehicles come from the other direction and pass you.
Your situation sucks. Having lived in different parts of the country I've had very different experiences with windshields. Some areas seem to have conditions where rocks just...
Just a suggestion, but what about putting up a Postit or note on the driver's side window when you go to charge to remind you to get the adapter? Something like "Don't forget your adapter". I guess you could also put the sign on the dash so you'd see it before you drove away. You could store...
Just like anything else, some people strive to do it right, and some people just try to get by, electricians are no different. If the home office has the attitude that everyone does questionable work, time for you to move on.
I've always advocated for knowing as much as you can about the...
If it turns out your wheel(s) is/are bent. You should be able to get them corrected. Near me there is a company called Hub Cap Annie's that does wheel repair. Their charges are a lot less than buying a new wheel. They may offer to check your wheel for runout and other damage for a few bucks...
I'm in Boise, so less demand for service than some of the larger metro areas, but dont tell anyone. It is still a wait to get in for a non-essential service like this, but otherwise I've been able to get service quickly. I've gotten to know the service manager, which also helps. It should be...
You might try one of the Rivian "certified" body shops. They typically have to straighten, replace, or otherwise fix crash damage, so they should have the tools and skills to get things functioning properly.
I used to take my vehicles to a frame shop because they were way better than a tech at...
Sounds like the construction crew and not the auto workers? Lots of contractors use undocumented labor. Eventually we won't be able to build anything!
It is absolutely brilliant to try and cripple the construction of a factory that could add jobs and a boost for the local economy. It will be...
So you are saying I should be happy the SC is close to me so when they screw it up I won't wast 4 to 8 hours driving to and from the SC? 😁
I think I have a pretty good relationship with the people at thr local SC, so hopefully I won't have to fight over charges for what gets messed up. I...
Thanks. I will review things closely when I pick it up. I think once it cures I'll take it to a pressure wash car wash and blast the windshield with the high pressure water to see if anything leaks.
It sounds like both jobs got botched for you. Is Rivian going to make it right?
Arrrrggg, on my way home from a trip to the Pacific Nortwest within 20 miles of home and my windshield got hit with a rock! The impact left a large crater! I've already scheduled for Rivian to replace the glass since my experiences with Safelite have been unsatisfactory to say the least.
Building wider heavier roads is less expensive than the alternatives in the long term? Extreme weather from global warming is less costly than improving our rail system? At 80 times the efficiency differential we can afford a cost premium for rail construction, and still come out ahead. The...
Or, the much more efficient rail system would grow. A semi is 80 times less efficient than a train, IIRC. If trucks paid their honest share of road taxes, the market would find more efficient ways to move freight long distances. Trucks would then be used as the last mile service.
The...
If you go your original direction, the pipe insulation might protect from a bump, but I doubt it will prevent scratches unless the insulation and your paint are really clean. Any dirt will act as an abrasive. You are probably better off extending things enough so there is little to no chance...
You should try your local automotive paint store. If they don't have a color code. they should be able to color match the color. They should give you the color code for free, but may charge you to do a color match.
