  1. Made in the USA?

Do we know what percentage of R1T/R1S are actually made in US? I couldn't immediately find an answer googling around.
  2. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

I think we already have a pretty good idea of where they’re getting the space for the range extender from. First off, Traveler and Terra are LONG vehicles - 6 inches longer than the already big R1S and a whopping 22 inches longer than R2. I’ll bet part of the reason why they were designed to...
  3. Feature "loss" between R1S and R2?

I'm sorry to hear that. I know everyone's got their dealbreakers and, unfortunately, the car can't be all things to all people (though I do wonder what the reasoning was for eliminating this feature when camping is obviously such a big target audience for Rivian). I got lucky (so far at least)...
  4. Feature "loss" between R1S and R2?

You might be SOL on this one, I'm afraid. They're definitely making changes like moving the NACS port to the more SuperCharger-friendly rear driver-side location, but as others have reported in other threads, Rivian's been saying that these are pretty feature locked at this point as they move...
  5. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

By the time Rivian is making 400k vehicles / year, the percentage is going to be more like 80+% of it being R2/R3 - much like Tesla with the S/X vs the 3/Y. There's only so many customers out there for $80,000+ trucks / SUVs, and if they can actually produce R3s in quantity and at the price I'm...
  6. Feature "loss" between R1S and R2?

That seems to be long gone. The designer who was at Nashville did say, however, that it was important for them to have it so that a 6ft tall person could sleep in the back with the rear seats folded down. I am emphatically not a camper so this means absolutely nothing to me, but hopefully it...
  7. Feature "loss" between R1S and R2?

Yeah, but there are some knowns.. Someone asked this same basic question recently which got some good responses but for the life of me I can't immediately find it. I know for certain that air suspension won't be in the R2 based on what I was told at the recent Nashville tour. Just about...
  8. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

That seems dangerous. I just looked it up and apparently that's perfectly legal but I wouldn't want to be in that center position in just a lap belt in a collision. Seems like that's a good way to end up with a face full of LCD screen in a Scout.
  9. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

Admittedly.... on both counts. ;-) The more I think about this, though, the more questions it raises. Like what about passenger safety? Presumably there has to be a shoulder belt in this configuration, right? And in every other car on the market that can only fit two people up front...
  10. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

Ugh. No thank you. The more I read about and think about this gas generator the worse it sounds (to me). Admittedly, I don’t care anything about towing or off-roading so for me it’s all about electric range. And I saw an article earlier that said… In which case double-ugh. Only ~100 miles of...
  11. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

With the disclaimer that Scout is very definitely not designed for me or my use cases, I 100% agree with this. Having ridden on many an uncomfortable bench seat in my childhood in old cars and pickup trucks, I DO NOT understand the allure of this in a modern vehicle. Give me my own seat with...
  12. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

Spec- and price-wise I’d probably agree with you. Unfortunately I think it’s a profoundly unattractive vehicle. :-(
  13. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

(Was trying to post this in the now-closed R2 Forum thread.) I watched the reveal, curious. I came away unimpressed. The SUV seems like a nice enough vehicle, but it's definitely not for me, personally. I'm no off-roader - I want a comfortable, spacious people and cargo mover and the R2 is...
  14. Scout is going to be a big threat to Rivian

I'll bet they do know. They capture info when they first talk to you (if you let them). They capture info when you do a test drive. They capture info when you make a reservation or buy a car. They can correlate all of that together and have a pretty good idea of how effective the spaces are...
  15. R2 and R3X are at new Boston Rivian Space

Agreed. Again, this could all fall apart horribly, but so far I'm impressed with the level of discipline that I'm seeing from Rivian regarding the R2. (I know I probably should expect discipline from a major auto manufacturer, but I come from the Tesla world where discipline seems to be an...
  16. R2 and R3X are at new Boston Rivian Space

As a long-time Tesla owner and follower I've gotten very, very used to taking any timeline from Tesla / Elon with an entire ocean's full of salt. They seem to absolutely adore setting timeframes and then blowing right past them - sometimes repeatedly. I've been approaching R2 availability with...
  17. R2 @ Nashville Space Oct 2024 -- photos & impressions

I didn't, I'm sorry. I got some pretty good shots of the R3X interior since you could get a little closer to it, but not of the R2 as the angles were a little weird. Plus, I was, personally, way less concerned about the interior / seats. I could already tell from the press photos that I'm going...
  18. R2 @ Nashville Space Oct 2024 -- photos & impressions

Heh. I could see the argument for wanting more distinction across the product lineup, but the similarity to the R1S is one of the things that drew me (and probably a lot of others) to the R2 in the first place. R1S is a fantastic vehicle but it's just too big for me, personally, and I'm betting...
  19. R2 @ Nashville Space Oct 2024 -- photos & impressions

Apparently generative AI is as good at Rivian headlights as it is at hands/fingers. ;-)
  20. R2 @ Nashville Space Oct 2024 -- photos & impressions

Hey, @TomServo2112. It's my thread so I guess we can do with it as we please. Or the mods will move this somewhere more appropriate. ;-) My Model S 85 (RWD, no performance, pre-Autopilot) has 108,157 miles and I took delivery in May of 2013. VIN 9786, so it was an EARLY model off the line. And...
