Trying to compare charging and gas costs for a R1T. My utility offers an interesting experimental EV rate (4.2 cents/kwhr), but only if I charge after 10pm, w high penalties for other times. Looking for input/corrects/comments on my estimates and answers to a couple of questions. Would...
Thanks for asking!
- Phantom power drain, with and without gear guard on, and/or any other power draining functions that you might not use in your garage, but would in a parking lot, if that makes sense.
- There are other threads on this forums asking about the 12V battery system. Can you...
I missed the call, did he specificially say that? If so, Great! It could well be, but I don't see it in the call transcripts.
To me, Rivian seems to have a tendency to make statements that make it easy for us to infer certain things are done if you don't read/listen very carefully. I'm...
Even so, the concern is real. Very Good chance the contracts have adjustments to account for raw material pricing, maybe energy, freight or other stuff. I hope they do have contracts, it should protect them from the extremes of spot pricing at least.
Not sure Rivian could get contracts...
I wonder if it’s too soon to ask about/discuss when they will be profitable, ie, for example, 3 years after the Georgia plant starts up?
I hope they cover how they are doing securing raw material and parts supplies. It would help support any ramp up claims and estimates.
I thinking we breath some life into the Apple rumours.....
And what could that do for the stock price....

I could see several reasons Rivian would not do this...
I'm guessing Rivian wants to show overall revenue being high as much as they do about positive cash flow. So it wouldn't be of much interest from that viewpoint. (I get that this may help profitability a little, with the right...
Can only hope. 40,000 seems really high, even including edv’s. Wont be anything near 10k in Q1, so a ~50k rate for rest of the year? Do we know if edv’s are shipping?
On a recent consumer reports podcast (Talking Cars, 3/7/22), they mentioned the additonal drag caused by even empty cargo crossbars was significant, causing a 5mpg loss on Nissan Altima, and a 2 MPG loss on a Toyota RAV4. Has anyone seen similar data for EV's? I guess we'd expect a few %...
As a counter point, from reading the S1, looking a raw material prices, etc, I (highly) doubt incremental production is cash flow negative even at old pricing. Additional production will still help improve cash flow (make less negative). I would expect its not realistic at any kind...
I'm struggling to be sympathetic with investors that claimed to be misled. I say that as an IPO investor. We were told the R1's would be unprofitable for a long time, and that they needed to drive market share and develop other revenue streams beyond vehicle sales.
The IPO mentions: Rivian...
