  1. Does the wrist band key still exist?

Received mine today, noticed a small 6" x 10" brown envelope by my garage door. I had received a email a few days ago, should have been watching for it.
  2. Green on Green on Blue 183 Mile Road Trip & Pure Driving Bliss on Blue Ridge Parkway, NC

This is from a spot on Hwy 221 between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mtn yesterday. Nice windy road, lots of great color with trees overhanging most of the road. Also drove the blue ridge parkway, the overlooks were pretty spectacular.
  3. Lightning review references R1T (CR R1T review in Dec issue)

Consumer Reports talking cars podcast team just posted their Ford lightning 1st look podcast. A couple times you can tell the hosts wanted to talk about how little they like the R1T controls. Will be interesting to see how poorly they rate the controls when their full review is done...
  4. iPhone 14 Pro is not compatible with the Rivian Charge Pad

I had a 11 pro max that charged fine. Just upgraded to the 14 pro max, with a very similar thickness and material type case. I've had no luck getting the 14 pro max to charge. (Even without the case). Wasn't surprised, since my wife's 12 pro max didn't charge reliably, and the efforts...
  5. Rivian's Registration Ineptness

Got my registration (and title) 12 days before the tag expired. Kept my old plates from my last vehicle, put them on the same day. South Carolina. Nice to be legal again. SC requires registration within 45 days.
  6. Just wired up a charger outlet, Rivian charger worth it?

A little disappointing, Not sure if this is your case, I guess if you have AT tires, and your range/hour added at any setting would be 10-15% less than what I see for 21" wheels, but that would only be about ~ 2 miles range per hour difference.
  7. Percentage of vehicles with service issue?

A/C. Low freon was the key issue to be fixed, took a week since my R1 had to go to a service center 250 miles away. -Many nuisance issues that I hope get fixed by software, that are things I consider "broken", not missing features. For example -navigations sometimes takes minutes to...
  8. Latest VIN check R1T. What is the real production rate...

Congrats on delivery. Thks for adding this info. Somewhat interesting data point, Rivian tells they had produced 7969 vehicles by June 30. The Q2 ave production rate was ~350/week. It looks like this VIN is about 1250 higher than the total number vehicles produced by June 22. VIN...
  9. Best Battery Practice?

Déjà vu..... https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/do-you-charge-the-r1t-every-night.7012/ I'd vote for keeping it in the 30-70% range, but extrordinary efforts not required. I charge ~3 times/week, at night. What he said.... I'm not that short, but I keep kicking off the bumper...
  10. Steelies!

Wouldn't you want to base the design on the fully loaded weight? Not sure how much it would matter in the actual design.
  11. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

Not much. Reducing capital spend this year, I think from ~$2.6 to $ 2 billion. Offsets higher operating costs this year. But "still" expect to launch R2 vehicles in 2025. I think they mentioned completion of the georgia facilty in late 2024 on the webcast. The R2 vehicles are designed...
  12. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

My thought process: Rivian shared that kind of info, a milestone of 5000 units made by May 9th, in the Q1 earnings release. Rivian stated they had made 2553 vehicles in Q1, but they also stated they had made 5000 vehicles in total as of May 9th. The quiet period is the last 4 weeks of a...
  13. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

The was one comment on the webcast yesterday about contracts being structured to pass through higher raw material costs, and those additional costs would be higher going forward, contributing to the higher spend this year. They have contracts, but not clear the volumes supported, and they...
  14. N.J. bill would assess fee on electric cars by the mile ......

I'd support a fee like a utility, a flat connection fee, monthly or annually to have access to roads and highways, and an additional fee based on mileage and perhaps vehicle weight. The per mile fee would be by far the majority of the tax in most cases. (Kinda like how electric utility...
  15. The elephant in the room (battery replacement)

Sure. Just predicting Rivian will want to maximize revenue by encouraging trade ins rather than replace your battery….. But we’re a few years (7-10) away There were several comments on the webcast yesterday that support the sell expensive things comments. Part of why I expect a trade...
  16. The elephant in the room (battery replacement)

Rivian's IPO documents showed part of their target market being resale of EV's. I expect, for good or bad, when we get to the battery replacment point, it will make more sense to trade into Rivian than it will to replace/upgrade the battery. I'm sure Rivian expects many trade-ins to be...
  17. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

To quote the 10-Q document: The term “preorder” refers to all configured preorders prior to May 25, 2022 and all reservations made on and following May 25, 2022, net of delivered vehicles and cancelled orders. Not really of consequence, but I wonder if there are some non configured but non...
  18. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

I've not seen a press release or interview report officially noting this. I'm a little skeptical of indications Rivian reached 10K R1's by the end of July. At the end of June it was <7K (including 2021). I've mentioned elsewhere here, have been shown VIN's reported above 10k, and...
  19. Rivian Q2 earnings - released with pre and post thoughts.

Some notes I made. I was disappointed they didn't really give us any feel for how July went. I did learn the the new EV incentives for commercial vehicles had less restritive requirements in terms of where the parts are made. They said the incentive on a 14k lb EV commercial vehicle...
