Rivian seems to be treating (and pricing) the Gen 2 quad like a supercar, kind of a gimmick aimed at the really rich. The tri is their new "expensive but still practical" vehicle. Not sure where that leaves off road enthusiasts.
Okay, buy a Lucid ...
I just don't get how in a head to head comparison, people think it's a terrible performance by the Rivian because it didn't beat the Cybertruck by "enough".
Yes, Rivian's EPA numbers for Gen 2 are misleading -- I've been saying that for a while -- but in terms of head to...
Problems - yes. Reliability and service centers.
Innovation? That is definitely not Rivian's problem. If anything their problem is offering too much performance for the money compared to competitors like the EV9. The R2 is supposed to address that.
What do you mean? The Rivian won by 14 miles or whatever it was.
The only sense in which Rivian lost was compared to the EPA numbers. Not surprised. Many of us said on here that Gen 2 range estimates looked way more optimistic than Gen 1 given the battery pack sizes.
What vehicle and specs do you have?
Conserve mode is generally to be avoided unless you're on a road trip and need to stretch range to reach the next charger.
For the interior, rubber floor mats (LinerX or Tuxmat). Screen protectors especially for the back screen which is in the scratch zone. Seat covers and cargo liner in the back for mud and such. There have been discussions of A-pillar grab handles on this forum but I don't think anyone's posted...
Yes, until recently, all Rivians with the 20" wheel All-Terrain setup came with 275/65R20 tires. No rubbing issues in any mode.
I'm not sure if Gen 2 ever shipped with 34" tires, but it sounds like they have from the above post. Maybe it's possible that there's less clearance in the Gen 2 wheel...
By the way, and no offense to OP, but the TL;DR is very simple.
* If you want maximum range, buy the model advertised as having maximum range.
* There is no magical aftermarket tire but there are options about as good as OEM.
* Factors such as temperature, elevation gain, and especially driving...
You should edit this conclusion:
* If you happen to be searching for the maximum range, try to get a vehicle with 20-inch wheels and 275/65R20 tires to start with. The selection of available replacement tires is largest.
Rivian no longer sells that size tire with new vehicles AFAIK. The...
This is just false. If by "they" you mean the NSA and friends, that's out of scope for this discussion. But as far as companies recording you and using or selling that data, you absolutely can move the needle by denying apps access to the microphone, closing apps, or deleting them from your...
Went with LinerX rubber ones which were rugged and great, do recommend. But switched to Tuxmat recently because they fully cover the stepping-in location at the sides that always gets little stones and dirt in there and is impossible to clean. Tuxmat look is a lot more posh and less rugged, but...
Lot of assumptions here,
* Scout will release somewhere close to 2027
* Scout will release somewhere close to stated price
* Scout will release somewhere close to stated specs
* Scout will release at all
A potential R1 competitor someday doesn't keep RJ up at nights. R2 logistics does if anything.
As many have said, these Scouts will not compete with R2, they'll compete with R1. The size and features listed all directly compare to R1 at least.
Let's look at the Kia EV9. Seems like Kia is doing great and understands EVs well, everyone loves the EV9. Well, for $55,000 you get 230 miles of...
