I light of the circumstances & lack of disclosure and the fact that you are paying with the current price structure I would want a 2023 model on principle alone.
I am having an equally hard time with the reconfiguring of the max., the carrot is getting awfully shrivelled at this point. Once we...
My wish list
1) Quad motor max pack (150-165kwh) as it went from first to last & nowhere near what promised. Why would you want the lower or lowest hp/tq options for towing?♂️ (The 180 must have been fantasy as it was way too heavy/costly/etc, etc. to be feasible for this size truck)...
There have been no shortage of letdowns on the max pack configuration. It's been 4:75 years for me so I took my other R1S order to hold me over since my truck finally died at 260K (miles).
i highly doubt it will be this year as they haven't even released the updated pack size yet. If it was...
You answered that in your response #22.
The only thing that you get that is the same as claimed by Rivian is 400 miles of range. However you get less kwh, hp/tq, warranty, drive modes & anything else I may have missed.
Necessary changes needed to head in a profitable direction.
At 57 months since initial deposit I would be satisfied with a 150kwh pack for the extra initial charge.
Since the Max was supposed to come out first should they not have had all those details worked out years ago?
I suppose your above reasoning would explain why it is only 6k for the 80 mile...
What unavailable option that you suspect us max pre-holders wanted are you referring to? I am just happy they are honouring the original pricing.
The point being made here is if you currently want a performance max pack one needs to seriously weigh the cost to reward ratio, which has been...
Compared to pre march 2022 ordering a somewhat similar performance max pack now adds 5k for the performance version + 16k for the max because the large originally did Not have a 6k surcharge. Just saying ordering a performance max now is a very costly proposition for only 50 miles.
When I...
Also a 2018 order holder, the quad max (180kwh) was not large back then.
Ordered a R1S Quad Large 135kwh (recieved)
& a R1T Quad Max 180kwh now ?(debating, not a fan of the dual)
Originally there was no standard (105kwh) pack available to order for it to be compared to.
Originally the large 135kwh was the baseline price point with no extra $6k charge.
Now you are paying the extra 6k for large + the additional 10k for max.
Good for Rivian moving to better margins per...
We are not at all confused as original pre order holders the max was claimed to have nearly 100 extra miles of range over large(135) for 10k.
Currently if one orders the max it is now only 50 extra miles & costs the extra 6k (which was previously included as base price) + the additional 10k to...
Gonefishing was referring to the large pack currently produced (not standard). Everything he said was accurate however I do understand Rivian's need to cut cost's on the max however feasible.
The max pack was originally claimed to have nearly 100 mile (33%) range increase from large.
So with all this talk of increased tread wear in conserve does that mean the dual motor versions will also have accelerated tread wear? Maybe since they have reduced hp/tq in may not be as much of a concern.
We were/are already paying a premium for it.
All I am saying is if they were still going to produce a 180kwh pack they would not be claiming only 400miles. The numbers don't add up, a 33% pack size increase does not equate to only 50 additional miles.
It makes good business sense to keep to the...
I was on the fence as well after 4+ year wait, the fuel savings alone made it worth it $.14/kw so 0-100% for $20 vs $1.9L so fill up $180.
Though not a perfect vehicle I am very satisfied with the R1S.
Sounds like you are s early reservation holder so the price is right.
Don't be surprised if is only a 150kw pack. They are currently only 1 module away from 390 miles & their claim is the max will be more energy dense.
It may even be up to a 30kwh reduction. 135kw/9=38.9miles/module
38,9 x 10(150kw) = 389miles
With a more energy dense pack they only need 150kw to...
Hwy range is the same as quad in conserve, maybe the others are improvements, but I am not a fan of reduced hp/tq, drive modes, warranty.
I have not experienced the gear lash yet with the S and the max pack is becoming less & less of a improvement/draw & I ordered mine for towing.
We sure are lucky they honoured the initial pricing. I am not sure it was a wise decision on their part. I reconfigured my quad M it was 35k Cad more, any upgrades went way up since March 22. Its business they need to turn a profit, can't just absorb inflation.
Why would you want the dual?
