I’ve been driving EV for 9 years. I’ve parked my car on a cold day and come back to it when it’s hot at a higher percentage than when I parked it. It was not plugged in
My theory: it is reading kWh available. You started with a cold battery and warmed it up on the way down. So the available kWh of the battery increased more than what was put in it due to the increased temperature.
I know people that make a huge fuss on how they need to bring in their vehicle immediately to get something fixed “Now!” Eventually someone gets tired of getting yelled at and just responds “bring it in.” Then the facility gets to it when they can. Rivian needs to do better. I’ve heard that...
I have two Rivian’s. My experience at the El Segundo service center is very different than yours. They do seem to prioritize serious issues first so I’ve had to wait for a while for minor issues. My vehicles all 3 times I brought them in are fixed quickly and don’t sit for a week before they are...
I’ve spent a few hours in 1st, 2nd and 3rd row in Phoenix in June. It seemed that the 1st and 3rd rows cooled down the quickest. The 2nd row took the longest to get comfortable. The 3rd row would be my last choice in the winter.
Ahh. The mountain bike bell option.
But seriously, do you hear the sound when driving assistance is on? I am referring to when one is on a freeway and the vehicle is doing the steering.
The AAA website recommendation for adjustment of side mirrors has remained that same for more than 20 years. It is the same as racing instructors teach. For most passenger vehicles, one shouldn’t be able to see the sides of your car without leaning to the side. Blind spots are created by people...
The suspension rides 0.5” lower (like 0.5” at the hub closer to the bump stops) with the 34” tires programmed. So, the ground clearance and overall height is about the same no matter what tires you have. I’ve read Rivian recommends against not matching the programing to the tires. Others...
From what I remember a Rivian is programmed for the tires/wheels installed. So the suspension for 34” tires is 0.5” lower than the other options. One can have it reprogrammed by a Rivian mechanic (rumored to be able to be changed by the owner in a future software update). It ends up they are all...
PDM over quad for off road. The software has improved the quad quite a bit in the last 18 months. The motors on my quad have reduced power due to overheating on long climbs uphill. This put me in a really bad position. I only climb short hills now. The only way the quad cold be better in my...
My portable air conditioner throws the same code if it is connected directly to my Rivian, directly to my solar generator or when connected in series (generator plugged into Rivian). The portable air conditioner works perfectly if I have my solar generator plugged into a grounded 15amp rated...
@MrMusAddict Your story sounds familiar. Except I didn’t bother to call back after 30 days. I just waited it out and the irs website showed progress about the same day I received the check.
I have used my Rivians to power a 14,000 BTU portable air conditioner. The AC unit is rated at 11.9 amps and would occasionally show an error. I determined that the portable AC unit needs a reliable ground to avoid the aforementioned error.
Melted circuit breaker to me (in order of least to most likely) means too much current, faulty equipment or improper installation. Since the onboard Rivian AC charger is limited to 48 amps I doubt that is an issue. A cheap clamp on multimeter would verify that. A faulty circuit breaker is...
