  1. Speaking Efficiency - How we perceive efficiency in EVs?

The lifespan of some ICE vehicles is longer than 10 years. 10 years is a good average though. My Toyota Tacoma is on 13 years and 222,000 miles and still going strong. I originally wanted an electric Toyota Tacoma, but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon.
  2. RJ posts Rivian winter testing video

Some people just drive like that. My little sister for example lol. I shared a car with her as a teen, and I always had to scoot the seat back because she had it 100% up. She's not short either.
  3. I could have used my R1S this week...

My current truck is RWD only and I have basically been stuck. I can't get out. The whole time I've been thinking about how great it'd be to have a Rivian right now.
  4. Rivian Plant Has Reopened. Amazon Van Still On Time.

As someone that has worked delivery in the past (for Amazon in fact), having the floor that close to the ground would have been a godsend. From what I've seen it's a pretty nice design for delivery drivers.
  5. Texas Roll Call

I do love Austin. The type of work I'm looking for (fee-only RIAs) aren't huge in Austin. I'd actually love to start my own firm someday in Austin. I'll send you a PM! I'm mostly looking for culture fit, and there's a few firms nationwide that I'm absolutely in love with. If you can't tell I...
  6. Texas Roll Call

I grew up in Austin, but I'm currently in Lubbock. I'm actually in school to be a Financial Planner, about to graduate. Honestly it's always been kinda wishful thinking that I'd be able to afford a Rivian, but I love pickups and EVs, and Rivian is definitely the best I've seen.
  7. Texas Roll Call

I'm in Texas, born and raised, but I'm looking for a new job at the moment and it's looking like it's going to be taking me out of state more likely than not.
  8. Rivian Configurator is going live on 11/16!!!!

Augmented Reality I believe, so basically you can hold up your phone camera to your driveway (or probably other places) and see your custom Rivian sitting there.
  9. Rivian Configurator is going live on 11/16!!!!

There is. This sort of thing happens all the time in the programming world.
  10. Video Feature: Long Way Up -- R1T's 13k mile all-electric journey from Patagonia to LA

They talked a lot about scheduling difficulties. It seems like they have certain appointments to keep, and while they had a charging infrastructure, it seems to me like it was a case of being in the wrong place at the end of the day in order to keep the schedule.
  11. R1T $69,000 starting price - opinions

I was very tempted. And in a way, I kinda did. I know what I'd like to be included. Honestly I'd be pretty happy with power frunk and powered tonneau cover and that's pretty much it. Honestly I can't even think of how many options they really can put on it considering they're doing all crew...
  12. R1T $69,000 starting price - opinions

"The democratic youth . . . lives along day by day, gratifying the desire that occurs to him, at one time drinking and listening to the flute, at another downing water and reducing, now practising gymnastic, and again idling and neglecting everything; and sometimes spending his time as though he...
  13. R1T $69,000 starting price - opinions

They've said a couple times it's before tax incentive.
  14. Email update on Rivian Configurator, Financing, Brand Store

I believe the same was true of rivian for a while too while preorders were open.
  15. Hummer Copies Rivian: No Wonder GM & Rivian Couldn't Reach a Deal

I think it'd be possible for AWD/4WD ICE cars too. The Hummer EV's rear wheels turn, and that's what allows it to crab walk. Rivian would either have to totally redesign the rear, or implement some weird vectoring thing that probably wouldn't work as well. The tank turn works because it's just...
  16. HUMMER EV Pickup first official look

Sure, I agree Rivian is an unknown, and we won't know for a while. They seem to be committed to build quality though. And I'm sure your GM cars are great. But if you look at data collected nationally, they aren't great overall reliability wise. My Tacoma has 216k miles, and I've spent about...
  17. Hummer Copies Rivian: No Wonder GM & Rivian Couldn't Reach a Deal

You're right. I really don't like driving sedans or crossovers though, which is why I specified the Tacoma. I also did specify BEV or PHEV, which they're just starting to do with the prime. The first gen Rav4 BEV, they made ~1500 of and only in California. The second generation has a 100 mile...
  18. Hummer Copies Rivian: No Wonder GM & Rivian Couldn't Reach a Deal

This is a big one for me. If I could get an electric or even a PHEV Toyota Tacoma I'd probably have bought it already. As it stands they're just now getting into hybrids (besides the prius).
  19. HUMMER EV Pickup first official look

Yeah if they match Hummer prices I'm not sure I'd buy a Rivian. I think they still have real competition from the cybertruck.
