  1. Michelin Defender LTX Platinum

Any comments on snow performance on these vs the stock ATs? So far these seem to check all the boxes for looks, range, and (this is the big one for me) noise reduction. I find the stock ATs are fine for MN winters, hoping these have similar snow performance and don’t slide all over the place??
  2. 20" Michelin Defender LTX Platinum Tires review -- For all of you thinking about a 20" tire! Your wait is over!

Can anyone compare these to the snow performance of the stock AT tires? Any more efficiency data? I’d love a quieter option to the stock ATs that has similar looks, efficiency and snow performance. I won’t be crawling rocks anytime soon lol. The stock ATs seem to be quickly getting louder...
  3. 2024.03 Software Update *BETA* (Quick Controls, Individual Passenger Window Locking, Ride Feel & Ride Height Improvements & More)

I purchased a new Jeep shortly after taking delivery of the R1T in mid-2022. Said Jeep has received precisely zero software updates to their crappy, slow, buggy UConnect system since then. Zero! Yeah I’d like some more features in the R1 system, but its come really far and the truck gets...
  4. Is your experience with the Rivian GPS Nav as Bad as Mine has been?

It generally looks nice and is intuitive to use. However as others have pointed out the routing is pretty unreliable, ESPECIALLY when considering real time traffic conditions. Its rerouting seems super random when it occurs and I never trust it. Overall it seems like they prioritized form...
  5. 2023.46 Software Update Details (Highway Assist / Driver+ / Navigation & More...)

I hope this means that the truck will map the Google-calculated route and not the Rivian/MapBox/Drunk Uncle calculated route. I doubt it but one can dream.
  6. Does "Towing Mode" reduce range unnecessarily?

Seems like they could get you a better range estimate if you were able to input some info about whatever you are towing. Is it a camper or a boat or an open trailer? What is the Weight, height, width? it wouldn’t be too hard for them to maintain a database of towableā€˜s that you could select...
  7. OTA Coming: AC noise/vibration

Had a service appointment for this a year ago. At the time, my tech said the noisy, unbalanced, weed-wacker-sounding piece of junk that they use for an AC compressor was "within spec". Maybe they are finally coming to their senses. Hopefully they aren't just saying what you want to hear...
  8. Software Update 2023.22.00 looks like it's coming...

feature request: Driver alert when being passed on the right by 10 consecutive vehicles. 5 if they are flipping the bird at me in the passenger seat ?
  9. What do you want addressed in the next OTA update?

SMS / Text message integration. Not asking for Carplay here but I think Carplay does this well. Notifies of new messages, reads them to you, allows you to respond via voice. Turn on camera when pulling forward into a parking spot, or give me a quick way to activate. I end up fumbling thru...
  10. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

  11. Rivian executive acknowledges R1S AC noise problem

Its more than 2-3. I've had my R1T since May 2022. Reported "Weed Eater Mode" to Service a month later, and was told my issue was normal. It has gotten better with software updates, where I suspect Rivian is throttling the compressor via software in order to help minimize the brutal sound it...
  12. I thought EV's were supposed to be quiet. @RJ ARE YOU HEARING THIS ****??? This car sounds like its gonna hit Mach 9 when you switch on the AC

Mine sounds like this on hot days. I put in a ticket. Mobile service came out, looked / listened for 30 seconds, and said its "within spec". "This is normal." "Nothing to see here." I was like "WHAT I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE LEAF BLOWER....SAY AGAIN??!?!?".. Tech Responded "YEAH LIKE I...
  13. map freezes and frequent GPS dropouts…

Top right of the map. Check out the image in the first post of this thread.
  14. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Just installed these last night. took me a few hours spread over a couple days, taking my time. Breaker bar, 80 lb torque wrench are necessary in my opinion. As others have said these are very well designed, we’re well packaged and are sturdy. Instructions online were very clear.
  15. map freezes and frequent GPS dropouts…

Noticed this last night when I plugged in at 9pm and the truck started charging before the scheduled charging time, which is 10pm. After futzing with the charging schedule with no success, I noticed the map had the ā€œNo GPSā€ symbol. The charging schedule only applies to ā€œ homeā€ and without gps...
  16. Rivian announces more lay offs (Orange County CA workers)

The guide concept was an interesting idea, but poorly executed in my 1 year of ownership. The only consistent communication I received from them was finalizing the sale when my delivery time came up. Post-sale their role is unclear, and communication is spotty at best. The handful of times I...
  17. Revealed: Rivian Patent For Auxiliary Battery Module To Achieve 400+ Miles Range

People that expect this to be an easily-removable or portable solution are not being realistic. It takes a very heavy battery to achieve meaningful range in an EV. This is not the same as tossing a jug of gas in the truck bed. A quick google search found this 5kwh portable battery weighs...
  18. What do you want addressed in the next OTA update?

I came here to post this. So annoying, especially since it worked as you would expect in earlier software versions. Not sure when it broke but its been broken for multiple releases now ?ā€ā™‚ļø
  19. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

I’m seeing the typical 1-2% per 24 hrs parked in a 50F garage. Better than when I first took delivery 9 months ago, but still needs improvement. That’s roughly 100W of power running nonstop, which seems excessive. no idea how much of that is BMS, and how much of it is inefficient systems...
