  1. 2 Year Anniversary review with my Rivian R1S

Well written and mirrors our experience with our R1S Adventure Launch Edition (22 months old; Mar 15 2023 with 45, 426 miles on 2nd 21" tire set). No EV experience prior to the R1S which has proven to be a good fit for our "mission" (2 active dogs + AAA ice hockey). Longer trips include moving...
  2. advice on drivers side phone mount / charger

I've had good luck with Peak Design products for Rivian and motorcycle. https://www.peakdesign.com/collections/mobile?direction=next&cursor=eyJsYXN0X2lkIjo3MzQ3MTQ4NTU0MzE3LCJsYXN0X3ZhbHVlIjo0OH0%3D
  3. Parking Sensors in the Rain

Couple of questions: - When was the last time you cleaned them? - Do you have any film or other protection on them (or waxed the vehicle so there is a coating)?
  4. R1S rear window wiper replacement?

I've the same question and same problem with replacement (non-Rivian) not fitting.
  5. Rivian contacted me today to proactively schedule a 12V battery replacement by mobile service

I wonder if it has to do with specific parts (batteries or ??) used during the builds. It is possible to source parts from different bins during manufacturing.
  6. 2024.27.01 Issue: WiFi Tethering not working

Ran into this issue yesterday on a road trip when stopping to charge and take a short break while my wife was working on an online presentation. Frustrating.
  7. Turn on 3rd row AC circulation for faster cooling down?

We take our dogs to the dog-park daily (weather permitting and sometimes even in grungy weather) and use the 3 row vents to keep them cool (or warm in the winter). In middle Tennessee, it makes a difference and they (and we) are comfortable with the air conditioning. It does cool a bit faster as...
  8. Lane Keep Assist Software Update 2024.19.04

Interesting comments above. I use my LKA all the time of major highways and find it really useful and easy to use. It provides another level of autonomy vs. me having to keep the vehicle in the lane. Shifting to lanes works well. The only gripe I have is the non-highway keeping isn't enabled...
  9. Deer on I-80...Not Visible in DriveCam

Sorry to get into the weeks... I've lived in the ADAS world for around 15 years. The quick overview is, deer, as prey animals, have evolved to blend into their surrounding within the visible spectrum (approximately 400 to 800 nanometers wavelength) relying on darkness and natural cover for...
  10. My R1T was damaged "Discount tire service center" (not the national Discount Tire chain)

Sorry to hear about the headaches for doing tire changes. At 27.5k miles on the R1S 21" tires, I've had great service for rotating tires, 1st from Americas Tire (when we were in California), then at Discount Tire (not centers) in Tennessee (owned by the same company). The Americas Tires account...
  11. would you buy R1T again as of 3/25/2024?

I definitely purchase another R1S (if/when this one wears out ;-). That said, thinking about the R3 (X) as a 2nd car when it becomes available.
  12. R1S automatically parked during red light waits - how to disable?

I have had this happen when I lean out the driver window too far.
  13. Rivian doesn't cost less to drive on long trips

We spend a lot of time going to/from hockey games & tournaments from middle Tennessee (e.g., to Chicago, Atlanta, Raleigh, Columbia SC, etc.). Stopping at fast charge locations has been more than manageable. Often, we get charging for free at the hotels and rinks, while home charging is $0.14...
  14. What's this random tone while driving?

As a thought, you might try “forgetting” the Camp Speaker in Bluetooth (not the Rivian). If you use it separately again, you can always re-pair.
  15. Cargo Bar Lock Cylinder failure

UPDATE: I took the cargo racks of the R1s today and tried to reinstall the locking mechanism in the cylinder. The offending cylinder lock was in the "open" position when the mechanism came out with the key. (We left the racks on the car as we've been using regularly until this weekend). When...
  16. Cargo Bar Lock Cylinder failure

Went to a local shop who had the Yakima "control key" and wasn't able to get it to work. Not sure if it is the wrong control key or if the standard Yakima is different than the Rivian's version or if I don't know how to do it properly. I'll keep working this and post an update once I get a solution.
  17. Cargo Bar Lock Cylinder failure

Don't really remember. The other side went in well. Simply pulled out unexpectantly. I don't remember the sequence, but leaning towards the "control key" conundrum.
