I've the same question and same problem with replacement (non-Rivian) not fitting.

I wonder if it has to do with specific parts (batteries or ??) used during the builds. It is possible to source parts from different bins during manufacturing.

Went to a local shop who had the Yakima "control key" and wasn't able to get it to work. Not sure if it is the wrong control key or if the standard Yakima is different than the Rivian's version or if I don't know how to do it properly. I'll keep working this and post an update once I get a solution.

Don't really remember. The other side went in well. Simply pulled out unexpectantly. I don't remember the sequence, but leaning towards the "control key" conundrum.
