  1. Frunk bricked me.

I've had probably 50-60 new cars in my lifetime. Several of them had issues early on. Happens to all vehicles. Sucks when it does, yes. But, that's what warranties are for. Sorry it happened. Unfortunate, but sounds like they did a really good job at taking care of you. I'm one that looks for...
  2. Poll: Will you trade in/up your Quad Large for Max Pack?

Odd poll question. Why would I give up my 835 HP Quad Motor truck that I paid $79,000 for to get a lower horsepower truck with less capability at well over $85,000? I wouldn't. If range is all you're seeking, then maybe those few would consider it, but I see that being less than 5%. 320+ miles...
  3. R1S liftgate opened while driving and all luggage fell out! (Drive Cam video added)

Well, then I guess that leaves only one option, since the liftgate didn't move and you couldn't see the tailgate, then that means only that Star Trek used the "beam me up Scotty" feature to magically destabilize the material of the luggage so it could pass through a solid object!! Without...
  4. R1S liftgate opened while driving and all luggage fell out! (Drive Cam video added)

Where is the camera located? On the lift gate that opens up or the tail gate that goes down? Camera didn't move in the video. I guess you could close the rear liftgate with the tailgate still open. Would be down and may appear closed, just wouldn't be latched. In that case, likely that the...
  5. R1S liftgate opened while driving and all luggage fell out! (Drive Cam video added)

Genuinely don't know since I own the truck, no SUV, but how do you open the rear tailgate from inside? Is it a button? If so, possibly the suitcase smashed into the button and opened the door? Just throwing out a guess. If it's a pull cord, same thing could have happened. Luggage hooked it and...
  6. Any Update to RAN pay or free?

Amazing how most people have no clue of this, even with Tesla's. I always try to educate fellow chargers when I can, but not sure the message always gets through.
  7. Less than a week in? That’s it—I’m taking it back.

The point is, the key fob needs a battery. Possibly a defective key fob, but the truck appears to be fine. Simply change the battery. If that doesn't solve the problem, call Rivian and they'll replace it. Naturally, the OP was just joking that he's going to return the truck because of a key fob...
  8. Well that sucks! Rivian insurance doubles in 1 year

Mine went up 30% from the prior 6 months. I raised my deductible from $1,000 to $2,500 and knocked off about 15%. Mercury insurance. I have multiple vehicles and clean driving record.
  9. How's everyone doing in Hurricane Hilary!

I know most got away pretty easy from this storm which was mostly a steady rain with a few short-term downpours. Wind was modest at best. But, there were areas that got over 12 inches of rain in a a day and suffered from notable flooding. Fortunately, the storm took a turn to east as it reached...
  10. How's everyone doing in Hurricane Hilary!

Rain non-stop, but only heavy periodically. Next 3-4 hours is supposed to be the heaviest? Also felt the earthquake. How many areas can claim a Tropical Storm warning and a 5+ earthquake in the same day??
  11. Any Update to RAN pay or free?

They're great. Went to Vegas. Used Barstow on the way up and back. 30 minute plug and play stops, no issues. Tried to charge at Electrify America in Vegas, spent two hours due to slow charging, half the chargers not working and long lines waiting. RAN makes me not miss my Tesla. EA makes me...
  12. Poll: Heading out on my longest one-day round trip this morning....754 miles door to door.

Had to abort the full trip. Made it 596 miles. Too many unforeseen delays prevented me from making the last leg of the trip to Bakersfield. Ended up with a total of three charging stops, (30, 40 and 30 minutes). Two at the RAN in Barstow which were GREAT. Another HUGE Electrify America failure...
  13. When 850 Horsepower just isn't enough!

I didn't think much of it, but apparently an electric truck hauling around an ICE engine gained a lot of attention. Through my 575 mile drive today, had no less than 10 people ask if they could take a photo.
  14. Poll: Heading out on my longest one-day round trip this morning....754 miles door to door.

I've had my truck for 14 months and completed a couple of 660 mile trips that were completed in moderate temperature climates. Usually average 2 miles per kw on 20" all-terrains. Most of this trip will be through soring temperatures above 100 degrees. This one today will be a 754 mile round...
  15. Towing triple axle 14k lbs ?

Go find a hillside road somewhere with a similar grade to the boat ramp you want to use. Also bring a separate truck with water storage and wet that part of the road down and try it out. Obviously somewhere out in the open where there's no traffic. Either that, or take a friends dually with...
  16. Rivian employee arrested for DUI

Correction "FORMER" Rivian employee. If it's true that he was a Rivian Employee to begin with. Would pray that his type of activity would result in immediate termination.
  17. Tesla Created Secret Team to Suppress Thousands of Driving Range Complaints - Reuters Special Report

I agree. Their heads got very big. I was an early adopter, owning a 2012. Loved the cars. Had quite a few of them, including several Model S's and Model 3's. Customer service in the beginning was AMAZING. But, after about 3-4 years, they grew and grew and it's just gone downhill since. I...
  18. Finally, an EV with real performance - Lucid Sapphire

Just like with the Tesla, paying an extra $40,000 for the "performance" variant of the same car you can get for $80,000 is never recaptured in the resale market. For the Lucid, they want basically a $150,000 premium for the added performance! WOW. As with the Tesla, they're basically the same...
