  1. TSB for Replacing Coolant Expansion Tank and Hose

I can't tell if they flush the system and put in all new coolant. Do you know? I just go the call the other day for this.
  2. R1 Strut Damper Assembly - Teardown Video

Wow, so defensive. I'm not bad talking Rivian here but I'm on my 4th set of rear dampers in 3 years of ownership. 40K miles. I'm really happy to hear that most other Rivian owners have never had their dampers replaced. I really hope it doesn't turn into a recall situation. These parts are wear...
  3. R1 Strut Damper Assembly - Teardown Video

Ok sure, but what's the difference at the end of the day? If the quality remains the same, then system cannot handle it and will fail.
  4. R1 Strut Damper Assembly - Teardown Video

Almost always change to Rally/High/Soft when on the unpaved then back to All Purpose/Standard/Soft on paved.
  5. R1 Strut Damper Assembly - Teardown Video

I've had the rear dampers replaced twice by 25K miles. Most recent repair, all 4 dampers, hydroaulic lines and the hydraulic pump. Catastrophic failure. I live on an unpaved desert road. Total of 5 miles out and back to my home. This suspension system cannot handle it.
  6. Service is going downhill a bit.

This has not been my experience. I've owned my R1T for 3 years now and I've been to service many times. I've never been given another Rivian as a loaner. I'm assuming because I live almost 100 miles away. In my experience, the service is getting better. At least at Eastvale, CA. My last repair...
  7. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

That's awesome. I love BMW's. Have owned quite a few in the past. Excellent build quality and driving dynamics.
  8. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

I tend to agree... For now. Unless these legacy manufacturers adopt the software approach like Tesla and Rivian, I won't even consider them. The frequent software updates and improvements are vitally important to me. Legacy's approach: Buy the newer model if you want these new features.
  9. Check your shocks. Mine are leaking after 10k miles / 9 months.

Yes, Rivian has replaced mine twice now under warranty for leaking like this. I'm only at 34K miles and I don't doubt it will happen again.
  10. Joshua Tree Charging Outpost not on our vehicle maps

I just did the steering wheel reset and it's showing now. False alarm. Thanks!
  11. Joshua Tree Charging Outpost not on our vehicle maps

How odd that the Joshua Tree charging outpost does not show up on the maps in our vehicle. I saw a Rivian charging at a Tesla station a few miles up the road and thought "why would they be charging here instead of the Rivian one?" Perhaps this was the reason. I live out here and pass it all of...
  12. About tire pressures for non-stock tires

That's a bummer about the efficiency loss, given how Bridgestone says they lean more HT than AT. Let's hope they stay quiet, at least. Those Pirelli's were annoying towards the end.
  13. About tire pressures for non-stock tires

Good to know, thanks! How are you liking the tires vs the stock?
  14. About tire pressures for non-stock tires

Had to replace the 20" Pirelli's today. I got 30k out of them. Could have been worse, I suppose. I was dead set on going another 5k even though they were getting fairly worn down, until a puncture caused a bubble. Super thankful it wasn't a blowout at 70mph. In any case, the stock AT Pirelli's...
  15. Rear dampers leaking again after 10K miles. Inadequate part for this vehicle?

Bad batch at the very least but possibly a bad part recall situation. No way I should need my dampers replaced every year. You picture looks like you drove through some mud. I'd wash is all off and check in the on the dampers after 1000k miles. All you need to do is raise to its highest to take...
  16. Rear dampers leaking again after 10K miles. Inadequate part for this vehicle?

I think most people use strut, damper and shock interchangeably even though the tech differs.
  17. Rear dampers leaking again after 10K miles. Inadequate part for this vehicle?

Yeah, it's a shock but Rivian's are super fancy and are interlinked, sharing hydraulic fluid. Not gonna be fun when we have to pay to have them replaced. I think they drained the entirety of the fluid and replaced it. when they worked on mine. I have another appointment to have my rears replaced.
  18. Reasonable expectations for unthrottled regen?

I go the mountains at least 3 times a week. The truck consistently throttles full regen in less than 10 minutes into the descent. It doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter.
