I unplug. I donāt plug in every nite so I look at the forecast and sort of plan my charge around days rain is predicted. Better safe than sorry.
I told my wife that conversation with the insurance company would suck š³
I actually went 60ās. I was all in on efficiency. Plus, Rivian gave us a 20ā all season 60 setting so I just swapped to that. Right now itās raining and kneeled in the garage. Iāll get it out and get some pictures.
I really liked the Defender Platniums but at the efficiency and price that went...
Iāve had mine two weeks so Iāve been hesitant to start singing their praises just yet. My initial impressions tho mirror yours. Iāve been super impressed. They are SO quiet!
The caveat for me and worth mentioning, mine is a commuter car, not an adventure vehicle. I also was dead set against...
Thanks for not making me lie on a couch and donāt send me an invoice because Iām not paying it š
Fully aware of where I stand on what Iām doingā¦
These posts are always interesting and I almost always read themā¦good to hear other perspectives, needs and wants.
Iām at the paralysis via analysis stage of tire shopping. I think Iāve come to the realization that I use my truck more for a commuter than something off road. I have a Super Duty for that. Iāve got GY Duratracs on itā¦tried the American made tire. Iāve not been happy, they are noisy and have a...
I had a Bronco Raptor and got tired of the wind noise. I wanted something else and started looking. Rivian wasnāt even on my radar and I was looking at a Raptor Rā¦it was bigger than I wanted and one nite while watching YouTube a race between the Raptor R and the R1T came up. The R1T spanked its...
Mine was replaced yesterday (2023 Quad R1T) and came on Saturday. When I called to make the appointment Saturday the Rivian rep said it will burn through your battery sooner but to not let it get below 30% and leave it plugged in while you can.
I ended up canceling my trip Saturday but was...
Like @More Juice Please I have a car problem. Iāve owned my 23 R1T quad a year and put right at 12k miles on it. Itās my first EV. I donāt drive it away, where I have to charge on the road, Iāve got a 2010 F250 I use for those trips. Itās a blast to drive as my commuter car and as strange as it...
That looks like one of those āthis is why women live longer than menā memes. I like the ingenuity, Iāve done something similar on faucet repairs crawling under the sink.
I agree with the consensus above about 50a is fine. The reason I went that route w/ NEMA plug versus hard wired is I expect at some point to have issues and itās way easier to plug a new one in versus having to wire a new one. The difference in power wasnāt enough for me to justify the hardwire...
As mentioned above, our TX garages get hot in the summer. To help with plugs, chargers, cords and wiring I turned mine down to 30a and itās been way better on heat. I didnāt notice my truck throttling but sure noticed stuff getting hot to the touch. To the point, this winter I havenāt turned it...
I have a 15 year old ranch truck as I call itā¦if the trip is far enough that Iād have to charge the Rivian away from the house, I take it. Not because I want to, but because convenience.
Interesting the responses, great topic. Iām a little shocked how many are 100% EV houses and use them on...
From my understandingā¦Ford isnāt bailing on the EV, they are working on adapting a gas inverter/generator, much like the Scout design, to extend range.
The new media narrative wants you to believe EVās have failed so thatās the way they are going. After all Elon bad so we need to hurt Tesla...
When I first got my home setup I charged at 40a and noticed how hot things were getting once summer and the Texas heat started. I checked all the connections and everything was tight, so I backed my charger down to 30a and it made a significant difference. Charging overnite, the lower power time...
Not sure why people get so defensive about the feedback provided. No denying his points except folks correcting his terms.
I bought a 2023 R1T Quad used, Iāve had it coming up on a year in March. I always charge at home and have saved quite a bit of money on cost of ownership. I way...
