From my POV, the Gen1 lasted from mid'21 to mid'24 (3yrs), Gen2 lasted from mid'24 to mid'26 (2yrs) just wondering how long Gen3 will exist .. .
Guess it depends on when the R3/R3X becomes available. ...
We talk a lot about buying a vehicle for what it has today, not what it may get in the future. So very happy that the Gen2/LE came with lifetime Autonomy+ & Connect+.
Noticed that your ADAS only shows focused blue vehicle but no other nearby vehicles. Both the display absence and ADAS fault plus disengagement of Autonomy+ occurred on clear highway. Infotainment reset helped but not with ADAS. Full reset did the trick.
It fast decelerates if changing lanes where there is an accelerating vehicle within the cruise control zone. It also gets scared if something momentarily gets into its focal zone (snow, dirt, sun, shadow) or if the car drifts too close to real or hallucinated lane lines, notwithstanding if there...
Okay, Figuring to get spiked here but having owned a Porsche Cayenne for over 200k, it does ride on Atlanta pavement better. I say that because the Cayenne was an Atlanta creature until the owner sold it to drive a Taycan. The R1S is not gentle. Rivian is 50% heavier than the Porsche...
Hate to point this out as it is a sad truth of history. Iām currently recharging at a RAN in Benton Harbor, MI
It is here as a midway charge location between Detroit and Bloomington so internal Rivian teams can charge on company lines when traveling between sites. Itās also a great place for...
Cruise resume seems like a big miss. Maybe autonomy will bring it soon. Iād also like to see speed-dependent spacing. The space I like at 30mph is different than at 70mph.
Charge planning is often destination dependent. Meaning, the spouse doesn't like charging stops at all. So, the destination needs to have close-by destination charging where dropping her off to do something else is included for the quick side hustle to the nearest charger and back before being...
Okay, Michigan is a drive from KS but the trip can be worth it. Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Mears, MI. Largest dune ORV east of the Mississippi. We have a place there with a 50amp L2. If you need a charge itās available. Also there is a L2 RAN nearby in Pentwater.
The R2 can start in Normal alongside the R1 and EDV. But that leaves nothing left in mfg capacity to do R3/X. If it be isnāt obvious, each new model has a lower price point and much higher run rate need. Normal is just not scalable beyond EDV, R1 and yr1 of R2. Expecting R2 RHD out of Stanton...
IMHO, there is a view that with 1/2 priced R2 and 1/3 priced R3/x, the R1 could be relegated to such low volumes to be not worth upgrading. Sort of like the Model X/S/Roadster. If R1 does get a serious refresh with R2 steering wheel, glovebox, better batteries, faster 4 motor designs that the...
Looks like the same comment on the Gen2-Quad, without the arbitrary speed limiter, would likely be competitive as well (against all those mentioned). . . However, having driven more than a few cars above 130mph, things change on handling at those speeds. Cars definitely handle differently at...
Which is all Gen 1 Launch discounts. Reviews often said it was more truck than the cost could account for. Now Rivian is moving the price to net positive and there may be a slight performance difference but there is surely a significant cost difference.
