100% agree on the not as instant feel vs Tesla. Honestly the slight lag is a good thing for everyday driving. It's annoying driving the Tesla and having to adjust your foot or lift off for a split second, can be jerky. Nice having a little buffer.

I think we need to change our way of thinking with EV vs ICE in terms of performance vs range/efficiency. Until now with ICE you'd typically either have a super efficient slow car, or a in inefficient fast car. With EVs speed and range typically go together. Usually bigger battery = more range...

I drive like a grandpa typically. I couldn't help but hit 100 in the Rivian on my test drive. The lag will definitely make things smoother though. Wouldn't want the mapping too touchy like the Tesla.

Ah that's surprising. Well then it just happens to sound like a space ship naturally!

Check out the video at time stamp I linked above. It's not just drivetrain whine, there's some artificial element too. It's subtle and I actually like it, and I typically hate any fake noises. The Model 3 noise is maybe 1/4th as loud and is just drivetrain.

Regarding "engine" noise see video below. Skip to 4 minute and 12:45 in to hear sound.

Does yours? An artificial engine noise? Mine has none of that, just the usual wind and road noise.

Good question! "Engine" noise was the first thing I noticed! Tesla literally has 0 sound. The Rivian has this awesome and subtle note to it, really suits the truck. 2 regen settings, both allow 1 pedal driving. High regen I'd say on par or stronger than Tesla.

I tried standard and sport mode. The power was insane in both. Throttle response not as instant in Tesla in either, but still better than ICE. The quality of the Rivian seemed far better than my 3.

I live by a bald eagles nest so saw 2 of those and about 10 baby geese this morning. But thanks! This is kindof what I expected. Test drove one yesterday and it basically ruined every other car for me.
