What are you talking about? Tesla has done incremental updates more than any other manufacturer I can think of. They're constantly making small changes to their vehicles, even within a single model year they make tweaks to different components etc.
The reality is that most with launch editions will have long traded them in for their next vehicle by the time lidar makes a difference. But, by all means, I hope people hold out so that my reservation number pops up sooner.
I have this happen every so often. I find that unplugging and reinserting the drive works. Failing that, I think I've had to do a reset once or twice as well to correct it.
Likely. With the Soonish one I installed, it requires removing the card-reader from the old one and installing it into the new one. The PCB that contained the card reader looked like it had an antenna built in and could very easily be broken if one wasn't careful.
I'm only occasionally being told to put my phone on the console to start.... But that's been happening for at least a couple weeks now and not only since March 16. Sometimes, it starts if I try to take it out of park without putting the phone there and other times I have to put the phone there...
Not to mention that most 800v cars can't hit anywhere near 250kw when charging at a supercharger... So you're limited at the most prevalent charging sites in the US to worse charging than current 400v cars at those sites.
If you look at the software portion of the video, you'll see that the clock now appears at the top right corner of the driver's screen.
Apparently, this software update is coming to R1 later this year.
If it was limited by the charger, there was something going on with the charger that caused a poor charging session - nothing to do with preconditioning
My favorite part was at the beginning of the RJ part. RJ finishes Kyle's sentence by saying "tradeoffs." Then, RJ answers the question by saying "I'm so glad you used the term 'tradeoffs.'" I got a good chuckle out of that. My favorite part of the video was the segment with the design guy.
Your test was a short drive where plenty of energy was probably bringing the battery up to temperature in the first place. On a road trip preconditioning won't be sick a significant hit and the charging speeds are well worth it
I think that's a perfectly valid video to make, regardless of the percentage of people who DC fast charge. What's wrong with analyzing the vehicle and mentioning how it compares to the competition ?
I realize I made a typo in my search. They do have 275/55R21 tires -- I mistakenly typed 255/55/R21 which yielded no results. Please disregard my post.
Meh, I doubt the lidar will make much difference over the time I expect to own the vehicle (around 5 years)... So I'm fine without it. It will still have what my R1S currently has, which is fine by me. I'm sure the lidar versions will be deprecated by the time I'm looking for my next car anyway.
Frankly, I'd like some influencers (like Kyle) to get one before I do and run it through the tests. I want to know where it excels, what the pain points are etc. An R2 in the right hands will greatly influence my purchase choices.
