  1. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

That used to be the case but the EPA requirements became more stringent over time. Most of the new Teslas hit their EPA figures pretty easily and actually do better in many cases. Same thing may happen with R2 with it hitting EPA targets. BMW though has always been pretty conservative with...
  2. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Not surprised at the price difference. BMW isn't really in the same class as its definitely a higher tier. I bet the higher performance versions may start encroaching on R1 prices. At scale, I bet the R2 will be at least $15k cheaper on average (fleet level) vs. the iX3. I wonder how many...
  3. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

There is still a huge performance discrepancy between the R2 Performance and the mid $60k BMW. Lets see BMW's offering with the same performance before we start comparing these two very different vehicles.
  4. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

I understand and am willing to trade off range for performance. For my use case, I want my daily to be very quick and in the rare case I do road trip it, I guess i will have to wait longer at charging stations. I love the M3P but as I get older, my back doesn't like it as much. I want...
  5. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Choice is a beautiful thing. If you want the slower version, more power to you. To each his own.
  6. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

I like speed. Nothing wrong with that and willing to pay for it 😁 We currently have an EV6 that does 0-60 in 4.8s and it just feels sluggish to me. If I drive around standard mode in my Tesla, its about 3.7s to 60 and that still feels slow to me so I'm aiming for the tri-motor around 3s flat...
  7. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

This is why choice is so important. I really don't want to downgrade the speed from my current ride so will look for the tri-motor R2 variant. I'm hoping the range penalty won't be so drastic. I'll assess when the specs come out though. I care less about range and even less about charging...
  8. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

You're missing the point. I'm talking $60k price point with much different specs. One is much faster than the other while one charges faster and has longer range. The i3M will be near $100k just like any other M model and not really comparable. There are already extremely fast EVs at that...
  9. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

The performance spec between the BMW and R2 will be wildly different at $60k. Not really comparable given the massive speed difference. Also, the BMW isn't really an offroader which automatically disqualifies it for many people. Hope the Tri-motor gets a bigger battery option but doubt it.
  10. Are you a Tesla owner getting the R2 as first Rivian? ⛔️ [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS] ⛔️

Maybe but here is hoping it arrives in the next couple years 😁

    I'm with you. I love the Teslas i've had but I'd rather have an R2 than a Model Y. Also, since they won't make a Plaid Model Y, I'll have to settle for a tri-motor R2 :)

R2 will differentiate when the tri-motor comes out. I'm hoping the reliability gets to Tesla standards by then as R1 has been pretty spotty at best.
