  1. 2024.03 Software Update *BETA* (Quick Controls, Individual Passenger Window Locking, Ride Feel & Ride Height Improvements & More)

Isn’t this thread about the new update? Why not post other comments in the wish list thread? I would like to see a screenshot of the replacement for the vehicle screen. This sounds like a big improvement for quick access.
  2. It's not just you, garage door software is buggy

Same problem - 318 MHz Linear opener...very simple no rolling-code 9 binary dip switch. Puzzling why it works on every car I've owned in the last 10 years, but not the Rivian.
  3. Garage Remote Limitations

No luck - I also have a simple 318 mhz remote with a binary 9-dip switch code
  4. MA State Inspection Boston Area?

    Excellent- thanks BlueR1S
  5. MA State Inspection Boston Area?

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you know how they raised the vehicle - jack pucks, removed the panels, or just lifted it on the frame? My main concern is lifting the vehicle improperly and damaging the battery. I spoke to the service center and they said they are not applying for an...
  6. MA State Inspection Boston Area?

They definitely need to lift to check the front suspension with every subsequent inspection. Thanks for the recommendation, but that's a bit too far.
  7. MA State Inspection Boston Area?

Does anyone have a recommended place for an inspection, where they will use my jack pucks to raise the vehicle properly? I've owned the R1S for a year and I'm overdue. Boston area preferred. Thanks.
  8. Range Rover Teases Its First Electric SUV, Which Is Made to Wade

The last two generations of the Range Rover have not had significant electrical problems according to surveys like JD Power. The Discovery has been rock solid since the 4th version.
  9. Range Rover Teases Its First Electric SUV, Which Is Made to Wade

I’ve been hearing electrical problems comments since my first LR in 2010. FWIW, JD Power has the brand in the middle of the pack for initial quality. I guess for a luxury brand it should be higher, but it’s not a disaster. I will be tempted by the Range Rover if it’s a true EV, not an ICE...
  10. Range Rover Teases Its First Electric SUV, Which Is Made to Wade

They have solved the electrical problems ages ago, but any forum on the internet responds with that whenever the brand is mentioned. It shows how much long lasting damage you can do to a brand if you let quality slip. I'm happy to own my Rivian, but my Land Rovers were all solid and worry free...
  11. New owner questions

Alexa open charge door works well.
  12. Garage Remote Limitations

I also have an unsupported Linear 318 mhz door that works on every other car I've ever tried. I'm still not sure if it's a hardware or software limitation. I have been through the submit a service claim with no resolution process.
  13. Alexa voice commands that work for me (updated with official full list)

Can I ask in a very polite way that this thread remain a discussion of Alexa use? There are other threads to discuss your feelings about voice assistants and the privacy implications. Thanks.
  14. Cars That Change Colors—and Other New Auto Tech On the Way (Rivian's Wassym's WSJ Interview)

Rivian owners already know this...but good to see Wassym and team leading the way https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/cars/cars-future-new-features-e629b22e?mod=Searchresults_pos1&page=1 Vehicles will increasingly be defined by their onboard software systems, enabled for Wi-Fi and cellular signals...
  15. Alexa voice commands that work for me (updated with official full list)

Is Alexa getting dumber? The "show navigation screen" command that worked reliably now does not. It stopped working after the last vehicle update, but I would guess this is a coincidence. I wish there was a way to train Alexa for the Rivian.
  16. SAE’s NACS certification is ready, and it’ll fix every EV charging problem at once

https://electrek.co/2023/12/15/saes-nacs-certification-is-ready-and-itll-fix-every-ev-charging-problem-at-once/ The title is probably intentionally sensationalist, but wondering if the experts here share any of the enthusiasm.
  17. Tesla shares 48V architecture with other automakers to move the industry

Ford seemed pretty happy, but your assumption is reasonable whenever Elon is involved.
  18. Tesla shares 48V architecture with other automakers to move the industry

It's maybe not a direct benefit, but it's easy to see how lowering manufacturing costs can lead to many indirect gains - adoption of EVs being one of them.
  19. Tesla shares 48V architecture with other automakers to move the industry

Whether the cost savings accrue to the customer as savings or the OE as profit will be decided by the competitive situation in the market. The article talks about Tesla's motivation, which is to help move the supply chain to everyone's benefit. It appears this is fully sharing the IP, but the...
  20. Tesla shares 48V architecture with other automakers to move the industry

https://electrek.co/2023/12/07/tesla-shares-48v-architecture-with-other-automakers-to-move-the-industry/ One of the less obvious features of the Tesla Cybertruck is its vehicle voltage architecture. The Cybertruck is the first EV from the automaker to use a 48-Volt (48V) electrical system...
