I really hope this company gets their service/repairs right. And learns from it. It’s a really good product. Hope customers like you don’t switch. My next car will also be a R1S.
Unfortunately the system is really awful. No matter how much you tweak it. May sound acceptable for most pop songs but rock, especially classic rock is a torture to listen to. Based on some great input on this forum, I will be upgrading mine shortly with JL speakers and amp. Not cheap by any...
Thanks for sharing. Did your installer add amplifier and another battery? Did you just change the subwoofer (not sure if G1 R1S comes with one) or the door speakers also? I’m planning to go all out
I agree with most criticism. Had some panel issues. I kept my Mach E for this precise reason. I knew this nascent company will have lots of kinks. I have new found respect for Legacy automakers. Zero problems with Mach E. I’m on both forums - Rivian and Mach E. Lot more serious and trivial...
I like CR and I think they are honest and critical. Has anyone bothered to read about how they rank these before trashing CR? It’s very simple. They go by owner surveys. So let’s say an owner says my software update failed or my panels aren’t aligned right or my window rattles, then ding! That’s...
Exactly, that’s what I was getting at. If it rides ok, it will sell (just like CT is the leader in its segment despite the hefty price tag), no matter how it looks. If the ride is awesome, then it will just crush the competition.
Do you like how it rides? We have 2020 Model Y and absolutely hated the ride. I changed my suspension to Unplugged Performance. That broke down in 2Y. Now have Bilsteins and the ride is 3/5. Rivian is 4/5
In general be very careful installing aftermarket wheels/products. EV sport line is a great company but it’s hard to beat the extremely thorough and vetted factory installed wheels.
Posted this elsewhere but wanted to post again because I’m so excited and honestly shocked how much improvement this software brought
OMG! Thanks a ton, Rivian!! (Has a nice ring to it :)) R1S Gen 1 owners rejoice! Rivian shareholders - cork up the champagne. Skeptics - time to leave!

What an update. Completely revamped the driving experience. And I am not exaggerating. I was satisfied with the pre-update ride quality and had...
Same here. I’m a super skeptic when it comes to ride quality. Went through several cars recently due to back issues and long commutes to find a car which has a good ride. R1S In all purpose mode is awesome. But in snow mode it’s next level. At par with the best luxury cars I have owned such as...
I don't mean to sound like an asshole but It's not important what I drive or what I have driven. Let's just say I've driven enough cars and trucks in my day to know when a suspension needs work. What's important is for Rivian to fix these issues for us. Anyway, it looks like Rivian's next update...
I’m just curious- can you share a few more details. Are the roads that you typically drive on particularly bad? I once drove on the R1S on a very long 20 minute patchy road and didn’t enjoy that experience. Also what other cars you have driven that you’re comparing to? It amazes me how much...
BMW iX is rated 5/5 by CR. So if you compare with that, yes R1S wont be that great of a ride. Previous cars I have owned include Audi A6 (personal 5/5), Porsche Macan S (personal 3/5), Audi Q5 (personal 4/5), Mach E (personal 4/5- 18 inch stubby wheels, CR 3/5), Model Y (Personal and CR 2/5)...
