Looks like we’ve finally figured out the issue with that ECU. I won’t get too optimistic just yet — the update is at 21% right now. The problem was that the module itself seemed to be compatible and functional, but apparently no one even bothered to flash it properly. Once it was fully reflashed...
Unfortunately, there’s no good news today — and honestly, I don’t think there will be.
It turns out that some of the modules in the car were replaced before I bought it, and it seems they flashed such an old firmware version that the car just doesn’t understand what’s going on. The update...
Parts for Rivian are actually cheaper here than in the U.S. — thanks to Copart and other salvage auctions that sell wrecked vehicles for almost nothing.
I heard that some local guys recently bought three R1Ts, and the total cost came out to around $50,000. Their plan is to dismantle two of them...
Yes, charging can be a bit tricky here — especially for Rivian. I had to install a DC fast charger at home because the old Audi Type 2 charger was only giving me around 4 kW/h.
I spent about $700 on the new charger and upgraded wiring, and now I have 30 kW/h charging at home, which makes a big...
Honestly, there’s really no need to worry about registration or insurance here — they register and insure pretty much anything that even remotely looks like a car. The vehicle was originally certified in the U.S., and it was registered here using those same certificates without much trouble...
All the guys from the UAE have already diagnosed the vehicle and tried to download the firmware. Unfortunately, one of our best internet providers had a failure, and now it takes about 3 hours to download 9GB. There are also some complications — the download process requires Linux specifically...
So far, no major updates today — but on a positive note, the team from the UAE is currently working on clearing the update error. They’re trying to reflash the faulty modules and install a new firmware version. The process is just getting started, and I really hope everything works out...
At that time, the truck was still on its original factory wheels. Later, I bought a separate set of wheels with off-road tires for local driving. As for the original wheels, I ended up putting winter tires on them for the cold season.
I have only one photo on this wheels
I also want to mention that this truck had a very unusual journey before it got to Russia. It was originally imported to the European Union by a businessman (whose name I can still see in the vehicle’s profile). Apparently, he couldn’t sell it there, so he took it to Belarus — there’s even a...
The issue with the guys from the UAE is that they’re not very responsive — we agreed that he’ll try to connect remotely tomorrow night and attempt an update via the service app.
To be honest, I didn’t import the vehicle myself. I saw a listing in Moscow for a practically brand-new Rivian (only...
Tried working through the issues today — while attempting to reinstall the firmware, the GPS suddenly died. It still seems to show my location correctly, but the time is wrong and the navigation system now says there’s no GPS signal.
Even worse, the truck is now refusing to accept any firmware...
Hey,
I already have a trial version of Connect+ active until August.
As for the firmware — it’s been a really strange situation. The specialists trying to do an offline update told me that one of the modules seems to be locked. They suspect it’s due to some kind of key issue. But I’m using the...
Thanks so much for the support! Unfortunately, things haven’t gone smoothly with the update. The team from Ukraine submitted a request to trigger an update, but there’s been no response so far. Meanwhile, the guys from the UAE offered to try an offline update via laptop — I’m currently working...
On my current firmware version, there’s no access to change localization settings at all. I can’t switch the language, and on the driver screen (for example, when a song is playing), Russian characters don’t even display properly.
I think it’s based on Google Maps, because it shows detailed data like business names and even the phone number of the organization — which you can then call from your phone.
The local SIM card is now installed in the slot, LTE is working, and the internet connection is stable. The tech team is getting ready to connect remotely to see what can be done about the firmware update.
UPD:
Another small win — navigation is now working too after getting LTE up and running...
Thank you so much for the kind words, Donald — it really means a lot. Honestly, I’ve never posted anything like this asking for help before, and I was genuinely surprised by the amount of support I received. It’s clear that this community is full of helpful and thoughtful people. The situation...
Thank you so much for the support! I’m truly grateful to see so many helpful and kind people here — your advice and encouragement mean a lot to me.
Of course, the situation with my Rivian has been frustrating, but honestly, I never regretted this purchase. The truck is absolutely incredible...
I personally don’t have photos of how it was done in my case, but there’s a TikTok video showing how a Ukrainian team installed a SIM card. The eSIM is located on the telematics board behind the rear seat. In my case, the techs desoldered the eSIM and soldered in a SIM card slot — surprisingly...
