The problem with that idea is that there just isn't an EV truck that can perform all the functions of an ICE truck yet. Getting closer but not there yet. I ended up back in an ICE truck for many of the same reasons as @KubotaTed but have hope that the Ram Charger turns out as advertised.
Did they mention a price range? Curious what they are going for compared to current ICE offerings. Cheap operation and low maintenance costs are a definite benefit but if the upfront cost eats up those savings it might be a hard sell to smaller companies.
The government massively subsidizes EVs as well. If 75% of US EV sales in 2023 qualified for the tax credit last year that’s roughly $7 billion in subsidies.
But it’s more than that. For $80k it’s the same base cyber truck but without the wheels, interior, V2H, FSD, and some other interior/exterior options. Using legacy automaker models as an example that’s like saying Ram selling a mid grade Bighorn devalues all of their higher priced Laramies that...
Comparing the two versions the pricing of the foundation series is pretty decent with all of the included options when compared to the $80k truck optioned up.
I can’t say I’ve ever done that on a truck. I always just put a knee up on the tailgate and then lift the rest of my body. Or climb over the side using the tire as a step.
Yep, a choice to be made between the compact spare tire that doesn't take up any space or a real spare that eats into the trunk storage. A stupid but common trend not isolated to Rivian.
Yes, using tire slime generally means a shop will not patch your tire. Slime is a solution just to get you to a shop to get a new tire. If you don’t want to get a spare buying a plug kit and learning how to use it would be a good idea.
Are they all linked to the same credit card/account? Maybe that’s locked out. There’s nothing different to what the truck sees from your portable charger vs a public level 2 charger.
