  1. Official Video: How Does it Feel to Drive a Rivian (Featuring Preorder Holders)

I really hope there is a traction control off button. And a 2wd mode like bmw does. Could be a deal breaker if the R1S wasn't for my wife. It just takes all the fun out of it, when you want to have fun. I'm not suggesting that it doesn't need traction control btw. It's like buying a muscle car...
  2. Invited to see the F150 Lightning tomorrow (8/5) and meet with Ford's General Manager of EV's

This is what people want from Rivian. Some people got to go see the truck interior and all, post pics, answer questions. Now people on this forum will try to guess range, charge times, etc, and this will not hurt demand for the lightning at all. I don't know what Rivian is so scared of. We know...
  3. Official Video: How Does it Feel to Drive a Rivian (Featuring Preorder Holders)

Never understood drift mode, that would take all the fun out of it. The most fun aspect of a drift is actually getting it right. The challenge.
  4. Easing concerns about (early) Rivian manufacturing quality?

A little wordy, but I agree. I have convinced myself that there is no good alternative to an R1S right now, but if something else were to come along..... Just get some vehicles to me, I'll make a YouTube video.
  5. R1S spotted off-road getting muddy in Mesa, CO

Seems like all the off-road videos show very little compression in the suspension over terrain. If they allowed the suspension to compress, more tires would maintain contact and I would think the passengers would be more comfortable. That being said, I've never been into rock crawling so what do...
  6. What is important to you from the infotainment system?

I am curious as to what other people feel is important from the infotainment system. I have not owned a Tesla so having most things controlled by the screen is new to me and my wife. I prefer buttons, but I am not scared to learn a new way of doing things. Personally I don't really care how...
  7. Rivian welcomes some early preorder holders at the plant in Normal, IL

Any chance the two you know were able to confirm if there was a glove box? Or if the infotainment worked? In all seriousness, did they happen to have any comments on space, especially the 3rd row of an R1S?
  8. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

    Definitely an a hole. Damnit
  9. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

My guess is that is not a vent or hole. The mud is from the same place as threat of the mud. You can see that the closer it is to the perceived hole, the less mid there is. Hopefully we will find out soon.
  10. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

Actually, they design the suspension to remove as much dive under braking as possible.
  11. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

During braking you want as much weight as possible at the rear, this is why a 911 has always been so good at braking and acceleration. Larger braking on the front of vehicles are due to the weight transfer to the front and the lack of grip at the rear. On our race car, we run the same brakes on...
  12. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

    I agree. It's terrible.
  13. Doug Score

That is definitely not an electric X5.
  14. So there is a Delay in Deliveries. Launch Edition starts July

Got up and was able to add the racks and charger, off road pack, etc.. Cool, that was fun. Then the wife got up and had to break the news that we still have no idea when we can get the truck, and probably won't be able to see it untill October. We both want the R1S, but we need a new car soon...
  15. Which accessories are you configuring?

Added the charger, racks, compressor kit, and off road package.
  16. Off Road Package now optional for Launch Edition (lowers price by $2k)

Having a panel that covers the trailer hitch pretty much requires the front tow hooks. Having a convenient place to hook a strap to is handy in many situations around your property, on the trail, or any place that 4wd is handy. $2000 is expensive for hooks and a skid plate but so be it, I added...
  17. Any “F150 Lightning-equivalent” SUVs on the horizon?

Work truck F150 is on order. But an expidition would be more expensive than a R1S and therefore not a good option. We ordered the R1S because it's different and cool, not because it's electric. So an electric expidition would still be an expidition, and not at all appealing especially in the...
