Oooooooo. Did they say when the configurator would be updated to reflect this?
Also, good going everyone! We nagged them into submission! What say we try and get a 5-Seat version of the LE now?
As far as I am aware, Rivian hasn’t released info regarding OTA services other than that they will exists. I would ask their customer support, see if you can squeeze any info outta them
So it’s just a normal ol’ photochromic roof. No commands can be given to it.
Guess that other chat person was misinformed. Or this one is. Or neither are. Or both are.
Is Rivian even a real company? Are we sure it’s not just an elaborate marketing scheme from REI and Patagonia?
See, that’s what I thought had replaced the electrochromic roof. Like those Transitions lenses on sunglasses that get darker in the light. But the mentioned that you can command the glass to change on-demand brings me back to electrochromic.
Honestly, idk. Someone should ask chat support
I thought photovoltaic meant that it converted light into energy. Like a solar panel. wouldn’t any panel that changes opacity when exposed to an electric charge still be considered electrochromic?
Admittedly, this is very much not my area of expertise.
Oh, well that’s a weird detail to change. My previous understanding was that the electrochromic roof had been nixed in its entirety.
But really they just changed the degree to which it can be adjusted?
Huh.
From the McLaren article
“A glazed, electrochromic panoramic roof panel is available for $9,100. At the touch of a button, the tint of the roof glass can increase from 30 to 95 percent.”
So now I’m super confused. First they (Rivian) said the electrochromic roof is canned, but now apparently...
As someone who was gonna go for the 5-Seat - 400+ R1S, I’ll admit to some mild disappointment. But I’ve now adjusted expectations, so here’s hoping that the “+” in “300+” translates into 320-350(ish)
Going back to the question of # of speakers, I would guess that the R1S has 22 (since it has a full third row of space to put them) while the R1T has 18 (since it’s just the two rows in a smaller cabin). Haven’t confirmed it with anyone, but it sorta makes sense, no?
Wow, where’d you get all that info? I l haven’t been able to get anything more than just “the four overhead speakers” outta the chat or email support
FWIW, I asked about the number of speakers included in the 360 system, and the customer service rep said she didn’t actually know.
She did, however, say that she would check on in with “the team” and get back to me with an answer by tomorrow
I know the information is gonna be in the...
