Quick update. I still don't have my R1S back after almost a month. The mechanical repairs are apparently complete, since it was driven to a collision center a week ago for paint work.
EDIT: Context for paint/body work here...
Got some updated photos last week and my R1S was driven from the service center to Driven Collision in Kennesaw where they said it needed paint work as the clear coat has damage that cannot be buffed out. It's been there since last Tuesday and I'm waiting on an update.
EDIT: Update received...
My R1S has been at the Atlanta SC for 2 weeks and 4 days at this point due to an inverter failure mechanically bricking it. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/my-r1s-ground-to-a-halt-while-commuting-with-suspected-drive-unit-inverter-failure.19136/
My vehicle was diagnosed and new...
I had to find this thread and quotes from Rivian on social media to remind myself of their promises to provide the NACS to CCS adapters to owners free of charge...
So while my R1S is still at the service center getting its front drive unit inverter replaced after it failed and left us stranded, I have been lamenting over it but now I've become more interested in knowing WHY it happened. I know that Rivian techs may not take things like inverters apart to...
Yup, it Carolina Squatted itself off the tow truck! I found that offensive. I did watch it get pulled back on the dolly and it leveled itself back out, but it was certainly odd to see.
You must have missed the link in in the OP to my other thread for context: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/my-r1s-ground-to-a-halt-while-commuting-with-suspected-drive-unit-inverter-failure.19136/
I've had a loaner since it happened, immediately suspecting the front drive inverter as...
Appreciate all the responses and anecdotes, they really helped me feel better about my situation. I am certainly very grateful that the SC is making it right and that the damage wasn't worse. Since I posted I've reflected on my emotional reaction and realized that I need to take a step back...
Front inverter failure confirmed. No details given on why exactly it failed other than it was an "internal failure" and no confirmation on if the inverters have been revised internally to lower the failure rate.
New OEM part should arrive by Thursday of this week, then they'll drop the...
It honestly makes my black R1S feel invisible in comparison. I get so many more looks and compliments on this truck, which is entertaining, but it's just not the right color for me. It has been growing on me, though.
Appreciate the anecdote. I've read your previous comments on the ATL service center being among the best and they had given me a lot of hope that my Rivian would be repaired by some of the best techs in the country. I'd love to also hear that the inverters have been revised by the factory to...
My guide agreed and said that was the thing she was going to specifically address with the team. I shouldn't have learned about the incident days after it happened and repairs were already underway.
That's the last thing I want. I love my R1S and I'm certainly a big Rivian enthusiast that wants to own and drive an R1S for a long time. This just makes it harder to maintain that enthusiasm.
I appreciate this response. I want to chalk this up as "shit happens" too, but it just feels like insult to injury and I don't know if I should be expecting them to go above and beyond to satisfy me or not, considering the circumstances. I totally understand they don't have to do anything but...
Thankfully been driving a Compass Yellow R1T since it all went down. They have been very polite to me in all my interactions so far, including my request for a Rivian loaner as that was not initially promised to me and only provided after I asked for one. Phone support had originally lined up...
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse regarding my 1 month old, 2100 mile R1S which left my wife and I stranded over a week ago, I have learned of yet another Rivian failure that was beyond my control.
On Wednesday of last week, I was checking my Rivian app and noticed an additional...
When it rains, it pours y’all.
Our one month old, 2100mile R1S ground to a halt while driving normally in AP about 15mph in the middle of a busy Atlanta road yesterday morning while my wife and I were commuting to work.
We had just dropped our kids off at school, and there were zero warning...

Also got a fan rigged up for the rear-facing little one to stay extra comfy on a long drive coming up!
