Is everyone here sniffing glue? This this is hideous. Kia makes some great looking cars, but this isn't one of them. The efficiency is awful. The range is terrible. And $73k!?! Seriously... GTFOH
I'm assuming you are joking. If there's a shopping cart in front of you, you get out and move it. You don't just run into it with your car like a brainless dolt. You definitely don't throw your door into a stranger's car and damage it. And you definitely don't do one, and then the other and then...
Love this overview. We are going into our 3rd week with our R1S, and I feel as if this could have been written by me.
On day 3, I did a 500 mile round trip from NYC to DC and back. It was quite an initiation. I completely get what you're saying about going back and forth between All Purpose...
There’s definitely some truth to that! But in all fairness, Delaware was equally as bad. In 2016, it was the EVgo chargers that convinced me to upgrade to a Tesla. The chargers never worked well, or at all, while you would see the red glowing superchargers from across the parking lot, Tesla...
Are there any good Rivian third-party apps? The Rivian app isn't the greatest, and I like to geek out on driving data, vampire drain and trip efficiency. With Tesla, I use Tezlab. But I'm not seeing anything similar for Rivian.
Apparently my expectations were too high. What amount of planning will allow you to create a plan to avoid a broken or slow charger and then provide convenient alternatives? Of the several apps, which one is telling the true story? Many of these stations don't communicate their status accurately...
To be fair, aside from long trips, the R1S is nearly perfect. The R1S replaced a Model Y which was indeed easier to get in and out of compared to the Model 3. Our other EV is a Model X, and the Rivian sits next to it. We plan on sticking with these two for a good while.
True, but barely. My trip wasn't a straight shot. I started a the Watergate hotel with a full charge, spent a day in Annapolis were I did an L2 charge for about an hour, then to NYC with about 80%. I had planned Westchester before NYC, but had to cut that leg out of the trip. If I was able to...
Please don't bury your head in the sand and pretend this isn't an issue. That doesn't help anything. It's not a "me" problem. This is my fifth EV, I've done this trip a thousand times and I know what works and what doesn't. I made it home fine, but a newbie would absolutely panic in this...
It should be, but the charging networks stink. I've done this drive more times than I can count. Driving a gas car is okay as long as you avoid NJ rest stops, which are a nightmare and take forever. Driving a Model X Long Range is the fastest and most enjoyable vehicle for this drive. If you...
During my trip, I used a combination of ABRP, Plugshare and the Rivian trip planner. With these apps, you should kinda sorta get an accurate picture of what is available. The real issue was that the first charging stop in Delaware was a total flop. It should have been a quick 20 minute charge...
I just completed a roadtrip from NYC to DC, and lemme tell ya, it was not stress free. The R1S is an absolute pleasure to drive. But the charging process was infuriating and time consuming for no good reason. The in-car trip planning nav software is not good, and I drove miles out of my way only...
