Are you sure it is not the speaker on the b pillar? I’ve heard that some people get some extraneous noise from that speaker.

I think it's because the app will work from anywhere in the world. They won't let you open anything that you can't also close via the app. So, no trunk bed or gear tunnel in the app. It would suck to be on vacation and accidentally open the bed or gear tunnel and have no way to close it.
