I think this is a you problem and not a Rivian problem. We took the R1S to Danbury, CT and back and had no issues. There is an EA charger in New Castle DE which works great, albeit busy. There is an EVgo charger in Carteret, NJ which worked great and near a wonderful diner to eat in.

It will only activate under 20 if it "sees" another car in front of you. If no car it won't engage. That's what I've seen across the forums.

This is what I did. I have my cross bars, the wife's cross bars, the ski rack, and skybox all on the same key. Its quite nice knowing I can grab the keys from my T or wifes S and operate all the locks.
