No idea, I didn't pay too much attention to that section reading the manual since I'm an R1S guy.
I remember seeing a picture of the cable looped through itself for a one-sided anchor point. Page 121 in the downloadable owner's manual.
I really hope they've got a dark mode, and I can really dim the displays down a lot, especially at night. Also, I hope the navigation has an altimeter. I had that in an OEM system 20 years ago and haven't seen it since. Sure do miss that for some reason.
What's the purpose for the dual 12v batteries instead of just one? They look skinny like a UPS battery backup. They li-ion as well?
Based on being able to charge just one, or either, they're both 12v, and not two 6v or 24v run in series or parallel.
Shown on pages 167-168.
So minimal buffeting with the window down? Just the driver's window, or any others down? I often drive with my windows down, but many newer cars have so much wind buffeting, I can't.
I think it depends on how the door locks interact with the actual door handle/opening mechanism. Obviously, electronically-actuated doors can be digitally overridden. For door handles with a physical connection, it probably comes down to the lock. Some cars allow you to pull the handle when...
People choose all too often on personality instead of the merits of the product, so I'm not surprised. The last election is proof of that, as are celebrity ad endorsements on most anything.
All around, I'm most excited by what can be done with four motors and precise power control. It's amazing what auto companies have done with independent braking control at each corner in terms of traction control, stability control, etc. Being able to apply power to one wheel while braking...
Saw a new Accord yesterday in Sonic Gray Pearl. Absolutely stunning, even had the wife's immediate approval. Hoping for something like this in the sun, and a bit darker like the forklifts when under roof or at night.
While we're discussing off-roading a bit, does anyone know what suspension mode/height the approach/departure angles are taken from on the R1 siblings? Scaling the angles off both the side profiles and the CAD-looking drawings (resulting numbers from both were really close) of the R1S, the...
Sadly, my 6-year old is more prepared for 1-pedal driving than I am. That's what Power Wheels have! Meanwhile, my antique self only drives with three pedals. I'm not opposed to 1-pedal driving, but I suspect the lack of coasting won't be as efficient for my use. I have very little traffic...
I'm really curious to see how an electric compares off road to a high crawl ratio in my regular vehicle, especially if pulling a heavy load, like when getting someone's truck unstuck from the muck. Sure, you've 900+lb-ft, but it's only 1-speed. With the crawl ratios in an ICE, you've got much...
I'm leaning Limestone, but it's hard to commit when the color is only a figment of my imagination. Ultimately, I'm hoping Rivian will introduce a nice burnt orange by the time my vehicle is ready to be produced.
This color would work (courtesy @aAlpine)
Ideally, orange would be the color I'd choose for my R1S. I'm not thinking pumpkin orange or Clemson orange (sorry), but something like the Hot Lava orange from Scion. It's probably the best orange I've seen in person.
Towards the end was a good scene of how four adult men fit in the truck in real life. Not huge, but certainly adequate. RJ looked like he was slid forward a bit, but still had decent knee-to-dashboard space while the guys in the back definitely didn't have their knees against the backseats.
