UTQG grades aren’t absolute for cross-brand comparisons. They’re useful when comparing tires within the same brand.

"Well, these often-misunderstood "grades" do provide some information for consumers, but unfortunately they're not as useful as originally intended when they...
The Goodyear tire prioritizes efficiency, but rain, snow and ice performance were a part of the design optimization (among off road and other considerations).
The Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG) ratings are provided directly by the tire manufacturers and can vary across different brands. There is no regulatory authority overseeing these gradings.
The Goodyear Rivian tire was designed to be efficient and have good snow performance (among other objectives).
A tire designed specifically for snow performance would likely sacrifice efficiency.
Yes, your understanding is generally correct. The Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG) system is designed to provide consumers with information to aid in the selection of tires. It measures three key aspects: treadwear, traction, and temperature resistance. However, it’s important to note that...
The Goodyear Territory AT for the Rivian is a brand new design. Any reviews would be for a different tire, designed for a different vehicle. Treadwear was a consideration of the tire design, balancing tradeoffs for efficiency and other performance goals. Typical of an OE tire, there is no...
I have approximately 1200 miles on the Goodyear tires on my dual motor performance with a mix of city and highway. And some quick acceleration runs mixed in. I’m at 2.35 mi/kWh. Your mileage may vary.
Goodyear uses the Territory brand name to tune the tire to specific OE vehicles. There are other Territory AT options with distinct tire designs that were designed for different vehicles with varying performance priorities. The Rivian Territory AT is designed specifically for the R1.
When it...
On road efficiency was a higher priority, but off road performance was considered in the design of the Goodyear tire. I am not sure of the off road specific performance of the Goodyear vs Pirelli. Rivian is still offering a 34” All Terrain option for some Gen 2 trim levels.
I did discuss with the service center that this might be an option. The Goodyear 20" has the same outer diameter (33") as existing 21" and 22" options.
The new Goodyear 275/60R20 option was just recently released. Here is the link...

Thank you! This was one of my favorite Goodyear projects to work on in my 25 years and counting with the company. I enjoy working with the Rivian design team. That was a big reason I chose to purchase a R1T!

My speedo shows I am going approximately 3% faster than the Waze GPS speed. As mentioned, Rivian is working on a solution for updating to different tire sizes.
