I would like to know what made you believe that this item was a bonding plug and not just a plain replacement plug? Not to beat you up over it, but to understand how this sort of misunderstanding happens.
Aside from the low quality and excessive ads, this is actually another major reason that radio is dead...
Radio’s New Challenge: Being Found
Not all the news is rosy for broadcasters, however. A separate 2026 industry report from Quu examined the 100 best-selling vehicle models in the United...
We really should ignore CR on most things automotive, unless you're shopping OLD models from legacy makers. Early R1 had a shitload of problems, and yet, most were not showstoppers. The CR reliability number is really stupid; it mostly equates a Rivian needing a new set of 12v batteries to the...
The problem probably lies in the very vague word "coasting" and how people perceive that context. And also, most people have no understanding of how EV motors and their controllers work.
Coasting an ICE car with a manual transmission would mean putting it in neutral or holding the clutch...
I've done this quite a few times, for days at a time in some cases, with an iGen4500DF. No issues, and I've run it at 24a mostly, but tested 26 without a problem (still not recommended).
I have a home-made neutral bonding plug, and this adapter: https://a.co/d/0hC9k9ac
Here's a thread about...
In which case, it would mean that Rivian specifically and consciously chose to cripple it. He says it works almost anywhere. I haven't been out there to drive it myself yet. He drove my HW3 Tesla 3 and said that was better, but not by a huge margin.
I often find that I'm actually older (on the calendar, apparently not mentally) than the people calling for old tech and skeuomorphs in their cars.
If Rivian can unfuck the voice assistant, would that make some of this less...hated? If you can just say "Hey Rivian play the XYZ station on...
Are you absolutely certain about this? I've just been talking to a friend who bought a 2015 Model S, which he said is hardware 1, and it does more than my Rivian does.
Sure, you can always point to specific products being better or worse than other specific products.
LOL! Then you can't compare CDs and records either. Paying for media and paying to avoid ads are perfectly valid comparisons and choices. Speaking of ads...the amount on FM radio...jeez. You...
It is. Early ones were not.
Nearly all streaming is vastly better than all FM, including HD. And the built-in Apple streaming is phenomenal, no CD, record, or especially radio station can come close.
FM in the R1 is still an app, and dependent on...FM signals...
So Porsche implemented some kind of physical disconnection from the motors? Because otherwise coasting with your foot control or because the computer is automatically pretending to coast you is the same. The Rivian only has disconnects for the rear.
I have no idea why you chose to reword what I said.
You pointed out some of the reasons that I don’t understand why anyone buys SUV Rivians though. I have the R1T because I need a truck, the other EV trucks are a joke, and I won’t drive ICE.
The radio thing is hilarious though in 2026.
I bet...
Yes, exactly, and as a society we've decided that we're going to "force" change on people in order to improve the environment and our health. Which of these choices do you also lament losing?
Cars with no airbags.
Catalytic converters and other pollution controls.
ABS.
Impact...
I can’t imagine that’s true. And dont they also have a ton of podcasts? Those are another one of the great solutions I use in the middle of nowhere. There are so many options.
