Honestly.. I won’t switch to dual unless it's 10k+ cheaper. Quad is for true 4x4 drive. Dual goes back to differential ICE style vehicle. If I want that I can save 40k and step back just fine ... maybe buy a cheap tesla model 3 for kick around town car.
People driving a r1t as a commute...
Definitely tempting. Faith in a company delivering on promises is almost as important as profitability ?.
I'm almost tempted to put down 3-4 additional max pack orders just to bump demand numbers. Figure that you can always cancel before they deliver... not like there's any rush.
I can get an ICE vehicle with near equivalent performance of a dual motor for off road... and vastly less expensive too. Don't plan on it... yet, but the wife is getting impatient.
4 wheel independent motors is far superior for off-road. Losing the discount to shift to dual motor also is ridiculous as well.
Hope for different chemistry solving the problem here is like dreaming of max pack in the first place.
Best position for now is to sit tight with max pack order...
I really wonder if I can wait another year. Just waiting for Tacoma EV equivalent to drop to be honest. It's going to happen and may be the end of the R1T niche market.
Rivian is becoming the poser of promises. My faith in their survival falls daily. I think they capitalized on press but are pulling a fast one by dropping all the features that made them truly unique.
When the recession hits will be interesting to see how many reservations drop. Interest...
Reality is 315mi quoted is less than actual use (winter, aged batteries, 20in tires for trucks, no Tonneau, etc)
So in my mind, 400 * 75% = 300mi.
This is what I'm looking for Rivian to deliver!
Agree...
if auto Tonneau isn't back by the time the max pack starts shipping... pretty sure this will be the end of my Rivian journey. They just can't check the key boxes (protection of goods, battery range and charging speed, and performance) and the constant churn is a sign of a company...
I'm sure there are additional safety challenges with higher voltage charging and battery storage in general. Don't really want the battery to arc weld my children into the frame in the case of an accident...
Disappointed... yes.
Did I put reservations down on other cars now, yes. Can't afford not to do so with these push outs...
I figure the more refundable reservations I make, the more likely they oversupply batteries and push down prices. I can always cancel once I finally get an order put...
