Honestly.. I won’t switch to dual unless it's 10k+ cheaper. Quad is for true 4x4 drive. Dual goes back to differential ICE style vehicle. If I want that I can save 40k and step back just fine ... maybe buy a cheap tesla model 3 for kick around town car.

People driving a r1t as a commute var are nuts. Way too much car to just drive up and down the highway. Figure those type of people are the California posers who like to show off their money. I'm in this for the performance of and adventure vehicle... not to pose with a truck in downtown LA. LOL

That's kind of an ignorant thing to say, I'll be mostly using it as a daily driver but will use it to camp, tow and road trip. I don't want to buy 2 cars to do that, much better to buy just one.

This. I currently have a MINI Cooper SE as an electric daily driver along with a 4Runner for off-road/towing duty...and then a sports car. For me, the Rivian will allow me to go down a car. Yes, the MINI is 2x the efficiency of the Rivian, but the R1 is still over 4x as efficient as the 4Runner. Also means all my cars can live in the garage again instead of one being forced to live outside as well as one less vehicle to pay insurance on when >90% of the miles are put on one of the three.

True. There was no" legal " commitment, but putting out statements that max-pack battery res holders would receive their vehicles first, publishing numerous bogus forecasted delivery dates, combined with the delivery of vehicles to new res holders vs early res holders paints a very untrustworthy picture.

It would have been better for Rivian to have been transparent an expire the hope of max-pack delivery. Instead, the long game of attrition and squeezing max-pack holders to wait for an unknown delivery is simply poor business practice.

Shouting into the internet will not get you a truck sooner. You might want to actually read the agreement you signed when placing your order. It sucks, but they ultimately owe you nothing except a refund of your deposit If you cancel or they go under. That’s it.

rivian’s preorder agreement says, very simply and very clearly, there is no guarantee of timeframe for delivery, or guarantee of delivery at all.

my preorder deposit was refunded same day, totally automatic, no follow up, no “hey wait are you sure?”, no retention effort whatsoever. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried to get back a deposit on a new car order but it’s not generally that easy.

despite your shouting, rivian can’t hear you over the sound of their backlog. They don’t owe anyone anything and they know it.

I would be too but I want more info on how their enduro performs off-road; do they have effective differential lockers, what does torque vectoring look like? I don’t want to buy an off-reading vehicle just to spin wheels in the air or gravel.

I’m certain the performance will meet a minimum standard but it’s awfully hard to make a decision without a demo, in-depth video by Rivian perhaps, or really any actual info about these motors & their design.

Reddit was right when the top commenter said “Rivian did the max pack people dirty,” - we’re sweating all the details, stats & metrics to get out into the boonies, trying to do the most “adventuring” here & I feel like we’ve got to stumble around in the dark to guess which build we should select if we want to take a Rivian into the wilderness sometime before 2049!

They‘ll probsbly go with some sort of ABS-based “e-LSD”. Ideally that would be coupled with an actual helical LSD(I.e. Quaife ATB or torsen), but that’s expensive.

The ABS based e-LSD mentioned above is the same hallucinogen I took upon signing-up for the Rivian. Original feeling of euphoria overtaken by anxiety and confusion. Delusional visions, rivulets of Rivians floating by and then fading as I reach for the door-handle. Some good chit, man!

So their strategy worked on me as a preorder holder for max pack- I got an invite to the shop and found a matching config without max pack and jumped on it.
But it’s got the powered tonneau with the full warranty -so there’s that.

13300 vin so I’m hopeful I have the 12v plug and extra magnets up front too.

Good luck to you max packers. I couldn’t hold out any longer and ultimately was worried about continuing loss of features as well as price hikes.

Watch- now they will release info on quad enduro motors next week ?‍
