THe pad is almost certainly big enough for a floor jack saddle - has to be since two post lift pads are similar size. Looks like the depression in the middle is meant for the scissor jack that comes with the spare tire kit.
torx plus in particular is much more assembly friendly than hex head or even normal torx.
also torx/torx plus is much more suited to a flat or button head fastener than internal hex because it's way harder to strip out the head
