  1. Today's TIREsome adventure

Find a non-chain independant shop. That's what I did and it's never been better. Cost more, but you get techs that don't just align to "within spec", but "to spec". Then multiple test drives with adjustments to make sure it's setup right. Well worth the $200 or so it cost.

They can figure it out just fine. It's not a priority.
  3. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

Man that sucks, sorry to hear that. Sounds shitty, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I knew I wasn't crazy.
  4. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

Mine does both of those things as well. Since new. Also a Gen1. The no heat while moving thing is new this winter.
  5. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

If by strange you mean "heat doesn't work at all while moving and below 15degF.......Then yea, I've been told by the SC that this update is supposed to fix that. Morning commutes in Buffalo suck with no heat, let me tell you.
  6. Share your Rivian Mileage & Product Ideas – Win a Gift from BestEvMod

Revised latches for the plastic internal doors on the R1T Gear Tunnel Doors. Rivian factory latches suck. Magnet maybe? Door "poppers" for the Gear Tunnel Doors. Rivians suck. Magnets were used in a thread on here. I would buy a "kit" from someone to make this work. Retrofit kit to make...
  7. EDV getting larger battery, 30% more range and AWD option

I'm certain the fleet here in Buffalo will appreciate that. I'm in the southtowns that gets HAMMERED with snow in the winter months. The EDV's disappear around November and reappear around March or so. They go to AWD sprinter vans as the most common through the winter it seems. Wonder if the...
  8. Turning off My Wall Charger

Interesting side note.......We just moved to a new place on the 13th. Got this text from the power company last night. I'm guessing the "smart meter" on the side of the house is reporting constantly. Obviously the house went from being occupied and providing energy for the daily commute to...
  9. Turning off My Wall Charger

Ya got me. It was the only thing I could come up with; not saying it's a good reason. Hell, I leave my portable charger plugged into a 14-50 NEMA extension cord in my garage 24/7.
  10. Turning off My Wall Charger

Safety concern maybe? No power = no accidental shorts? I too am curious.
  11. Turning off My Wall Charger

I just had this same thought as well. Wonder if it's still plugged into the truck with a daily climate schedule set. Mine warmed from 32deg to 68deg in the driveway this morning and used 2.4kWh according to the energy page in the dash. If it's doing that a few times a day it might explain the...
  12. Turning off My Wall Charger

I'm wondering if there is something else on that breaker. Also curious to see how the 12-14kWh/day is measured. Meter reads? Monitoring tech? Provider website?
  13. GOAT Slider removal for SC to work on

They do the same check with my EVBase boards every time it comes in. They've never asked me to remove them. Had the tech outline the pucks on the truck with sharpie last time. Now they just peek under there and see the circles and I'm good :D yes, it's in for service enough it was worth the...
  14. R2 emergency door opening sanity check

I had a '17 Q7 with proximity unlock......it was amazing and, IMO, a masterclass in how to do passive entry. I had two problems with that entry system in the 36mo or so I owned it. Once the car battery died. Wouldn't let me in. Solution was to use the physical key, unlock the door, and it let...
  15. R2 emergency door opening sanity check

I'm with you. Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to ignorance.......or something like that.
  16. R2 emergency door opening sanity check

This......It's about adding unnecessary complication to a system that has been solved for decades. Those decades of solution have led to an almost innate understanding of how to operate a door on a motor vehicle. If you crash a car, what's the first thing you think of? Where's the handle, and...
  17. Buttons on steering wheels

I memorized the tree pretty quickly, but wife never did. The scrolly wheel thing allowed you to scroll a bit, then take a break and watch the road again. Then scroll and click around without really moving your head, and barely moving your eyes. Zero movement from the shoulder (which has the...
  18. Gear tunnel mod to make the doors pop open (w/ magnets)

Service tech once showed how to "pop off and adjust" the gear tunnel inner panel. It's a temp fix though, as the rubber that generates the "pop out" when you push the button eventually squishes down and they don't pop any longer. I've adjust mine twice now, and after a few weeks it goes back to...
  19. Gear tunnel mod to make the doors pop open (w/ magnets)

Once the weather breaks I intend to put some modelling clay in that space, close the door, then measure the clearance. Keeping in mind these are still just barely above hand built, I suspect the variance from truck to truck will be more than the tolerance of your magnet sizes :D

20mph. I've had it bite me in the tail several times after being in AllTerrain mode to get through a snow covered parking lot, then trying to pull into a street without swapping back.
