lol - and it’s not working at all in the latest update, looks like it’s only showing details for syndicated networks now :(
heres a screen capture I got of one instance previously in November, showing Rivian have the data, just that they choose not to share it:
edit: oh - it now shows up if...
Whats CarPlay got to do with this? Not getting a good GPS lock is usually a ublox (99.983% of mfrs use them - and yes this statistic is made up) issue rather than anything to do with the OS and other apps running in the infotainment system(s).
One thing that this thread brings up thats a bit...
I’m sure it’s not true. There’s no documentation to support this, and also doesn’t match how the door handles work. Would love to be wrong though - @Kryptonlogic ?
This with one slight adjustment: it’s the remaining addressable capacity of the battery in kWh (SoE) * the EPA cycle estimate for mi/kWh. This differs from SoC as the addressable capacity will fluctuate quite a bit at any particular ’SoC %’ based on a number of factors; primarily temperature of...
Another +1 for Wallbox : I’ve got a pair of them along with a current clamp on our houses main feed to enaure the total power draw never goes above 180A (we have a 200A service). Works fantastically well, I see it kicking in a couple of times a year when the dryer, oven, hob, pool and AC are all...
This tracks - last year (ie 2024) I was told by folks working for Rivian: the quad is coming out next month, its 100% coming in January 2025, its going to be in Q1 2025, its going to be in Q2 2025 and ts canceled.
The one person who gave me information that I trusted: "No idea, but legal say we...
The digital key (ie the key in your wallet app of choice) supports both NFC and UWB/BLE, you do need to have NFC support, UWB/BLE is optional. Digital key is required to make use of UWB for proximity locking, Rivian’s own implementation remains BLE only.
NFC only digital key:
Kicks in when...
UHF != UEF (universal eyes free)
I for one fully support these Darwin Award attempts -long as we are no where near Northern Missouri/Southern Illinois for my families self preservation.
That said - I concur with the findings of others here,UHF really does keep going for a surprisingly long...
There’s some really bad mis-information in this thread. You do NOT need UWB in your phone to use the digital key, it works with NFC only phones. Whats critical is that your phone supports either Google, Samsung or Apple Wallets with at least NFC support on iOS 18.5 or Android 15 or above. Its...
It would probably help to read Rivian Roamers post on this again: WiFi has nothing to do with being flagged for upgrade (just when it’s downloaded), and though connect+ is weighted toward the earlier tranches of upgrades it’s just that, and offers no gtee of which batch you end up in.
So both our gen1 and gen2 now have this; it’s a super nice update - and UHF is obviously very early days but super impressive considering where things were with highway assist just a few months ago on rivians own stack. Now time for the complaint…🤣
The physical HMI between the two generations...
Are you signed up to Rivian roamer (rather than just watching the stats for the release) or using home assistant? with either of those approaches you can see if your R1 has been flagged for update - at that point you can have fun with starlink etc, but right now there nothing you can do to...
This is why I’ve been foaming at the mouth for this for a year - finally a smooth multi Rivian experience!
Also the new driver screen center map is so good - it’s got a better zoom level than the center screen map. Now I just wish I could hide the left modal on the driver screen and get even...
Funny thing about all this. It’s probably irrelevant from Rivian's POV: even with dampened demand from tech forward folks and those who want somthing that’s a compelling upgrade from a R1S tech wise (and don’t need the extra space) - they are almost certainly going to be supply constrained...
Based on the assumption that R2 will launch with AXM2/XMM2 that is used in R1 Gen2 and then be changed to the gen3 platform later in the year: I would not be surprised to see a gen3 R1 roll out in late 2026 as well; literally alongside the updated R2 (RJ does seem to love the 'one more thing' :)...
So I just got it back from the local SC: wow.
The original design always felt like it was a scale model of some random part of an aircraft carrier. What everyone says about the udpate is true: This thing is smooth, and so quite.
To be fair, Gen1 was always limited to Mobileye EyeQ4 Mid, and there was never a realistic expectation that this would change. VW’s ID.Drive on the ID.3/4 uses the same sensor and camera stack and offers some lane assist features (with steering nudges rather than the more conservative 'ding'...
