it’s not insulting to push back against all the people who keep insisting there will be absolutely no noticeable (from a driver pov) changes to the vehicle when the factory reopens. The fact is, it’s pure speculation either way & no one knows until Rivian reveals what’s rolling off the line soon.
There’s really no point in comparing the two companies as the economic & EV environment are so dissimilar during the rise of each company that is a futile exercise to find any valid worthwhile comparison
Yes, they could go out of business as they are currently at a precarious juncture. Leasing would allay your fears & get you into a great vehicle - & in 3 years either that risk or the company will be gone.
Even simple things that require just swapping parts can be meaningful - better cameras, better GPU, etc.
I had a Model Y pre & post GPU change (intel to AMD) & that simple change was a nice upgrade.
Precisely why I keep one ICE vehicle. Had a completely fine eclipse travel experience without any range anxiety or worry about taking alternate routes.
My plan was to lease then buy too - Rivian really needs to be more upfront if the full pre-order discount actually applies to leases or just purchases.
