  1. How many amps should I set R1S for household 110v outlet?

Everyone is giving good advice here, and I don't have anything to add to it. I figured I'd pass along basic electrical terminology for future knowledge. Start with the basic formula: Volts* Amps = Watts. So a 120V outlet on a 15 amp breaker can put out a max of 1,800W (or 1.8kW). The 80%...
  2. Is it me or is Chromecast just awful?

It's not you. It just kinda sucks. It crashes frequently with most streaming services. I've never had luck with Disney or Hulu. Oddly, it works fine streaming Outside+. It seems very service dependent.
  3. Story: Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) Scaling for R2 and Beyond

It was a marketing video designed for future Rivian buyers. It wasn't a news segment on future plans for RAN. I wouldn't confuse those two things. I wouldn't consider Rivian's approach the same as Tesla's. There's similarities, but Rivian isn't trying to build a proprietary nationwide...
  4. Georgia Plant Changes Impact R3 Production (2029-2030)?

Part of the reason Rivian is being vague is simply because Rivian doesn't know the full details yet. They're planning for certain production volumes, but there's a lot of unknown details. For example, what is the end-consumer demand for R2 in the US? Tesla sells ~300k cars in the US per year...
  5. ChargePoint in Rivian app

It's been there forever, and doesn't do anything with Chargepoint. I think it's a relic of an attempted but failed integration.
  6. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

Looks like a great trip! I started exploring that area with my R1T a few summers back, but I only got to the well known places like Bridges and Valley of the Gods. I was surprised how accessible it was then, and it's only gotten better. My recent trip from Denver to Moab almost exclusively...
  7. Q1 2026 Earnings Results. Georgia Plant Capacity Increased to 300K Vehicles!

There isn't positive cash flows, but looking at their statement of cash flows shows a generally better picture than most people get from the loss numbers on their income statement. Of those losses on their income statement, about $200M per quarter is stock based comp, and $200M per quarter is...
  8. Ford $30K Midsize EV Pickup (Ranchero) - News & Info

Skip the click unless you want to see pictures of a bunch of Ford execs around an unidentifiable piece of metal.
  9. R1 and R2 crossbars not compatible (don't fit) - now officially confirmed by Rivian

That would be stupid if they're not compatible. It will take the aftermarket community somewhere between 7 and 12 minutes to come up with an adapter if they're not compatible.
  10. Tesla to upgrade all HW3 cameras and computers to HW4 - RJ, your move.

The key difference is that Tesla marketed their cars as having all of the hardware features necessary for truly autonomous operation, and even made claims they'd be appreciating assets because of it. If Rivian marketed their Gen 1 vehicles this way, then a similar expectation would be...
  11. Rivian and Redwood Materials partner to re-use Rivian batteries at Normal plant

As compelling an idea as it is, I'm all for not having my neighbors trying to wire a 400V DC battery into 240V residential wiring. The Venn diagram of people I trust to do this right and the people that will actually attempt this does not have enough overlap for my tastes.
  12. Q1 2026 Rivian Delivery and Production Figures Released

My wife's previous work involved working with a bunch of former Tesla employees. Per her telling, the absolute "best and brightest" in the industry all wanted to work at Tesla until maybe 2019 or 2020ish. These are the VP's, Director's, and Engineers that could walk into any carmaker and have a...
  13. Charging, adapters--used 2023 came with nothing.What do I need?

All good points above. As an FYI, you'll still want the NACS to J1772 adapter (L2) and the NACS DCFC adapter, even if you plan to avoid Tesla. The non-Tesla charging networks are starting to add NACS plugs in new stations. They're not super common yet, but they'll likely be predominant in a...
  14. Trunk randomly opening

When you push the physical button to open the frunk, does it noticeably pop back? Or does it stay depressed? I've experienced a few failed buttons of this style (non-Rivian related) where the button stayed in a depressed state, making it think it was always being pushed.
  15. R2 Factory (Building 2 - Body Shop and General Assembly) damaged by tornado storm (April 17)

Looking at that storm track, I'm honestly more worried about the people who lived around there. That's a lot of residential.
  16. Rivian curious life-long cheapskate....what to look for in a USED R1T

Welcome! I hope to keep my Rivian like you've kept your ridgeline. I don't think there's any one thing to look out for. Read a little about the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles. There are reasons people prefer one over the other which are more related to personal preferences than...
  17. IONNA Experience

Agreed. I tried my first Ionna station a few weeks back. The pricing was reasonable, I didn't have to deal with Tesla /EA membership pricing nonsense, and the shade structure was nice. Most of my complaints with other networks have gone away over the last few years, so it's not like Ionna =...
  18. Rivian and Redwood Materials partner to re-use Rivian batteries at Normal plant

Many "totaled" Rivian's on this forum have an undamaged battery pack. They can't sell the battery as new, but they can repurpose it.
  19. 2026.07 Software Update notes - features & fixes coming

It's a great trip! Just pay attention to when the road is open before you plan anything. The road to the top has been closed for a while, and I think is just re-opening sometime this summer. I'm heading to Lassen and the Northern CA redwoods this summer.
  20. 2026.07 Software Update notes - features & fixes coming

Yep, totally wiped. This bothers me more than it should. I had both Death Valley & Mount Blue Sky in mine, which are the highest and lowest drivable points in the US. The whole family thought that was pretty cool.
