I suspect the reason most of the Scout reservations are for an EREV are simply because there are no EREV alternatives on the market. Not that there's massive demand.
Most people who wants an EV truck will get a Rivian, Silverado or Lightning (used). They won't bother reserving a vehicle that...
There's not enough info to make a good comparison. VW's recent releases had a big enough gap between initial hype and final product that there's a lot to be skeptical of.
Remember when everyone thought the ID.Buzz was going to be the most amazing vehicle ever?
I'd love it if Scout made a...
The R2's being sold today are for those willing to pay the highest price.
They'll be opening up lower priced options in the near future. They'll start offering more traditional incentives as the supply/demand balance evens out.
It all depends on how much you value getting a vehicle right...
Given the plethora of threads about AM/FM support, satellite radio, crappy Bluetooth, etc, I figured it is time for a poll on which one people most care about.
We all want our own preferred media source, but it's also unrealistic for Rivian to include all of the options.
If you could choose...
I haven't read through all 22 pages of this thread, but I hadn't seen the technical challenges of AM radios in EV's come up.
EV components cause significant interference in the AM radio bands, and the fixes are expensive. On the AM side, it does come down to the question of how much more are...
Thanks for clarifying this before I got to it. I don't believe Rivian ever guided to 2026 profitability. I sort of recall (but am too lazy to look it up) that they pushed out the expected profitability date to 2028 after the Uber investment. This is because they are going to put more money...
The lower part of the front trunk holds ratchet straps, ponchos, tire repair stuff etc. It's rarely used stuff, but its always good to have.
This season, the rest of the front trunk carries folding chairs for my kids sports games.
It's also my first choice for groceries when the gear tunnel...
I'm not in the market for a new car right now, so I'm personally not impacted by this.
I will say that one of my biggest disappointments in the R1 is the push towards making everything streaming. I despise streaming services. I don't listen to much radio, but I do want to listen to my own...
Important context from the article but not included in the summary above:
"Despite the mass-market, and less expensive, R2 launching right now, Rivian will not accelerate the RAN network’s rollout, according to Scaringe. But there will come a time that will change. "
Data is good and appreciated.
My memory is a fuzzy, but I remember a lot of people being butt-hurt because someone with a slightly later reservation date got one sooner.
Rivian was doing a lot of batching. One week they would do all green vehicles and the next week would be all silver...
Just adding on since this thread has been revived. I took a similar approach to OP.
I adding sealing around the sides of the bed, and a lot under the spring tailgate flap. I'm pretty sure most dust comes from below. I focused heavily on the areas around the hinges and the base of the...
No announcements, but they're probably just batching production of certain R1 color/option combinations as they start getting the R2 vehicles through the paintshop with different colors.
The R1 will be around for a long while. It's still their high-end vehicle, which is important to the brand.
Interesting to see how people use the front trunk differently. I use mine all the time. It's my preferred spot for groceries. Maybe there's a difference for R1T vs R1S users due to bed vs. rear hatch decision?
For our Model Y, I use the front trunk for rarely used items like a tire repair...
I'm in CO, so I can't comment on your local charging infrastructure. As a general rule, new EV owners are WAY more scared of charging than they need to be. It's just not a big deal in most cases. I can't comment on FL specifically though.
Run any common roadtrips through...
A good rule of life is to assume insurance actuaries understand the financial risks you're running better than you do. If they're putting those prices in front of you, the insurance company is confident that you will statistically incur claims lower than that dollar figure, adjusted for their...
It's known that Rivian uses heat from the motors to heat other parts of the vehicle, similar to Tesla. I'm not aware of published details, but I would not assume that the PTC heater is the correct point of comparison to a heat pump. I vaguely recall Munroe doing a deep dive on this some time...
