You will get offered a value that will allow Rivian to sell it at a small profit to someone else who will sell it at a bigger profit on the retail market.
The business model that allows consumers the ability to get a discount from MSRP also comes with the ability of dealers to charge over MSRP. You don't get one without the other - either price is negotiable (in either direction) or it is not.
I've driven all Tesla models, including the original Roadster. I've driven them on road trips and have had early(ish) iterations of auto pilot scare the **** out of me with some pretty sketch actions.
I've drive almost every EV on the market for varying lengths, and owned several different...
So what would you call a system that applies only regen with the brake pedal until the driver calls for more "whoa" than is available from the electric motors and only then is friction braking added to make up the difference?
I don't know of any vehicles that use blended brakes as you define...
The problem with plug in versions is that to meet code, they must produce a separate unit for each plug type/circuit rating. Hardwired units can have adjustable amperages and one model could cover everything from 8 to 80 amps.
I think I understand why you are confused.
Blended braking doesn't make a hard switch from regen to friction - it just adds in friction brakes on top of 100% regen when requested.
It's hard to do it in a manner that feels seamless to the driver, and very few manufacturers have been able to...
One pedal driving can, and often is, implemented on vehicles with blended braking.
Overshooting is not a problem or an issue. Stepping on the brake pedal will use regen exclusively up until the point you are requesting more stopping power than the motors and/or batteries can provide. If you...
I've seen this argument before, and don't understand why implementing regen thru the left pedal as opposed to the right one makes a difference in efficiency. As long as the same amount of regen is implemented before blending in the friction brakes, why would the efficiency be different?

Adding features via subscription is very likely an approach that at least some manufacturers will take to keep the MSRP below cap levels for the Tax Credit (if there are any passed by Congress).
"Want adjustable suspension, multiple drive modes and adaptive cruise? That will be $xxx per month...
Preconditioning will take much more power than L1 (120V) can provide. Not uncommon to see a 32A draw with a full battery (or one already "fully charged" to the level set by the user).
Not only is it pleasant to get into a prewarmed vehicle, it also allows the battery to be brought to a more...
19.2kW is overkill for 99% of use cases.
1.44kW on a 120V circuit is adequate for a fairly large percentage of people for their daily needs.
A 40 or 50A circuit is pretty much the "sweet spot" for home charging. Going to L2 (240V) helps a bunch with inefficient EVs (like the Rivian), and also...
One of the poorest explanations I have seen in a while on how the tax credit works. That type of info is what leads to so much confusion among consumers. Never mentions tax liability and only talks about "owing" when filing in regards to getting a refund/credit.
This is also not the "latest"...
Occam's razor would suggest that the vehicles spotted at the Bellevue service center are being utilized by one or more local field guides to provide test drives.
Not so much a First Mile "Event", but likely an ongoing program with limited space. More spots will probably open up periodically...
The OEVA and EAA have a goal of promoting the adoption of EVs thru education. We took a look at how the at how the proposed tax credit will impact EVs available (including most upcoming in 2022). This is a fairly comprehensive list, but we likely missed at least one or two (Hypercars and highly...
Had a conversation with the builder and got a little more insight.
14 new homes in an older area of Portland. Most will be single car garages, a few 2 car.
Working with the utility company, he got pushback on doing even a single 50A circuit in each garage. Turns out the transformers (a block or...
Contacted by a builder putting in 18 new "green" homes. He is planning on adding charging to them. His current plan is to hardwire to a 50A circuit, and his question to me was a recommendation on model. These will be spec homes I believe, but possible that buyers could upgrade/change if not...
The EPA classification:
But at >6,000 lbs, it should be excluded as a "Medium electric truck"
Rivian gets to figure out how their vehicles are viewed and categorized in all 50 States and the various counties, cities or other tax/fee jurisdictions within them before they can start selling them...
It came up as a sideline in a different thread, but thought some might find it useful to see the additional costs that are not currently included in the Rivian payment calculator.
I'm going to assume an $80K configured price (including destination). IF anyone posting for their State would do the...
