I'm torn on color. Currently have a limestone max pack r1t on order so I have lots of time to decide. But now also considering forest green and el cap granite. I was at the Venice CA hub the other day and all of the colors that I saw looked great.
I've been thinking a lot about this and I wonder how the vectors will intersect. You can dramatically increase AND UPGRADE existing charger base and that would go a long way. But I wonder how that will compare to what may be a 5x of # of electric vehicles out there in a pretty short time. Your...
I had one in April '22 after ordering 11/21. Since I'm Max Pack (no pessimistic comments, please!), I don't expect my truck until 18 months after my test drive. Crazy as that is.
I had an awesome Patriot X3 on order early in the pandemic but decided to cancel it and wait until we move out west in 2 years to get it.
But since then, I also like the Taxa overland version of the Tiger Moth, which is about $28k I think

I dno, I still think that if they are taking orders for the Max Pack, they are going to deliver them. Now, they could be taking Max Pack reservations b/c they wouldn't want the optics of shutting down orders. But they shut down the Explorer, so you'd think at that time they would have bundled...
those are my thoughts too, and I can't imagine they would still be taking Max pack orders if they weren't going to offer it in a reasonable time frame. They've told me my Max R1T (ordered 11/21) will be ready 2H 2023, and I (perhaps foolishly) think they are going to live up to that.
Man, I just can not accept this for my permanent, sole vehicle for transportation and weekend trips. I'm expecting mine in about 12 to 18 months. If I keep seeing these types of posts, I'm just getting an ICE Colorado and will join the EV truck revolution when it's ready for primetime.
I'm curious about the range in general. I've been seeing some pretty good range figures, though a lot of those were in conserve mode, which most have said is not what you want to be driving around in for long periods but rather as a way to eek out an extra 40-50 miles when needed.

Just to throw one more opinion on the pile:
I have a 2010 4Runner right now. I have a Nov21 order for a Max Pack R1T Adventure. It will be my primary vehicle and in late 2024, my wife and I will move to SW Colorado (kids will be out of the nest by then).
I got the Rivian b/c of the size and on...
Anyone set up an RTT with a travel trailer, like a Taxa Tiger Moth? That's what I think I'm going to do when I get my Rivian in 18 months. Not a cheap option, but I really like the idea of the tent being on the trailer permanently and leaving the trailer at the campsite if I have to drive...
I imagine the install costs will come down, the demand will increase with more EV's (though I agree, it's tricky since vast majority of charging will happen at home), and I do hope there's some subsidy.
I guess we'll see. Agree with other comments that for most people, even fairly expensive out...
do you think that in 2 or 3 years, charging stations will be all over (eg, 7-11, Costco, regular gas stations)? will it be like how ATMs are everywhere just so that the owner of the real estate can make $2 per withdrawal? Why wouldn't the same thing happen with EV chargers?
all very good points. I should have mentioned that I do expect things to improve dramatically, especially with the infrastructure bill funding. and given semi-retirement, am I really gonna be in that big a hurry?! Hopefully my 4runner holds out until my order is ready. Given I will have driven...
This starts to look more and more like a hobby than a vehicle that I will actually want to use in my semi retirement exploring the southwest. And "semi-retirement" is also a bit antithetical to $90k truck that isn't my also my main explore vehicle.
That article you linked to is interesting and...
