In somewhat positive news, I participated in Tesla's "vote for new Superchargers" process.
The most recent round had a proposed spot in Hanksville. It is ranked 26th out of 500 in voting for North America. So I give that pretty good odds.
It just means they found something in QA. Which to me is a good thing.
I'd much rather have features delayed a few months done correctly than continuous buggy updates.
Recently Apple Music and GoogleCast (or whatever it's called) come to mind. I like having both, but the apps are buggy and...
I’m enjoying this thread because Rivian’s are so common in Denver to just be routine.
I’ll still get occasional questions about it when I get outside my own usual bubble. But even those questions are becoming less frequent.
I don’t think less of anyone who isn’t aware of the EV startups...
One of Rivian’s biggest mistakes was releasing the R1 builder too early. Customers had specific builds in mind, with prices attached. It led to that giant pricing fiasco that both pissed off customers, and cost the company a lot of money.
Rivian probably has a target ASP in mind, but probably...
That's odd. I've actually found the truck Wifi seems to work faster than my cellular data. Although it is hard to measure.
I do wish there were a way to keep Wifi on when the rest of the truck is powered down. It's not a big complaint, but that would be an occasionally nice convenience.
Here's my uninformed and baseless speculation. I know very little of e-bikes, so feel free to tell me how wrong this is.
What if it has the power to qualify as a Moped for full road access, but not freeway? But it also uses GPS to limit power when not on main roads, so it will comply with...
These are great, and perfect for drive electric month.
I recommend looking up these events near you, and seeing what you can participate in. I've done it in the past, and the Rivian is always a big hit. It gets way more interest than the Tesla's and Ioniq 5's.
I've gotten good reactions from...
I'm not against the looks. I'd say it looks highly functional. The step-through design is nice for accessibility, even if it looks odd. Same with the rear suspension.
I probably wouldn't buy one. I'm mostly interested in how they differentiate themselves from the many other e-bike makers...
Here's my wishlist of things for Gen 3.
I remain amazed at the R1T, and I don't want any other vehicle. However, there's still some room to optimize.
I also think Rivian should have a more affordable truck option. This could either be a lower trim Gen 3 R1T, or a different model...
Looks like a great trip! I love the write ups.
My R1T has become my favorite road trip vehicle. Even though the numbers say it’s not the best EV roadtripper, it’s just so fun to drive.
It does work out to $12.50/mo, which isn’t nothing.
But the access to WiFi probably saves me roughly half that on mobile data. It’s hard to measure, but it’s not nothing.
Value for the money is there, at least for me. I still want a better Bluetooth player (or USB audio) though. I’d be...
There are zero guarantees that the Gen 2 will get to whatever your expectations are on autonomous driving.
Gen 2 will progress much further, but I'm not aware of any promises on how far they'll get with it.
Heck, I even remember RJ saying around the R1T launch that "autonomous driving is not...
Modern successful media requires getting clicks. Getting clicks means tying everything to the rage-bait of the moment, and whatever "narratives" have traction at the moment.
It has nothing to do with reporting, generating understanding of a topic, or meaningful thought.
I hate it.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I get your point. On the other hand, the EV market has some amazing cars, middling cars, and mediocre cars.
A lot of people's opinions of EV's in general is influenced by the 1-2 EV's they've interacted with.
Adding great EV's and subtracting the...
Plugshare content does seem very user-driven, and there's not a lot of users pushing data.
I've been the one adding a lot of the "Coming Soon" RAN's near me based on the charging thread.
More contributors would be nice to help see what's coming. I don't know if the "coming soon" section is...
I felt I needed dedicated snow tires, but my baseline was the original 21" pirelli's.
With no 21" snow tire options at the time, I went with the R800 wheels from EVSportline and the Blizzaks. I'm happy with them, but don't have much to compare them too. They were pricey though.
I'd...
