Can we stop feeding the trolls here?
This is someone who joined the forum today and who's only record of posting is about how great Tesla is compared to Rivian.
I'm all for comparison of the pros/cons of different brands, but this is clearly either some weird fanboy, a paid schill or an AI...
This is a true statement by Elon, although not for the reasons Elon wants you to think.
I tried doing a discounted cash flow model on Tesla a few quarters back. IIRC, I calculated the fair value of car + energy business to be about $30/share.
It is a bit tricky to value because you have to...
Fair point. I didn't intend for my statement to be taken 100% literally.
Just stepping back to the 10,000ft level, I think the Model Y and R2 will be more comparable to each other than either is comparable to any other brand out there. At least until Scout hits the market.
There are a lot...
@jabanks32
You signed up for the forums today just to talk about how great Tesla is? You clearly want a Tesla so just buy a Tesla.
Some people will compare a Model Y and the R2 and choose the R2. You are free to like the Model Y better. There are choices in the market.
I personally have...
Conserve mode might be useful in Death Valley if you need the range. Use it for that, but not for temp concerns.
I drove through Death Valley east-to-west in All Purpose just fine, but there are trips that would stretch range capabilities a lot.
I signed up for it with my Tesla. It was slightly confusing at first, but it made sense once I figured out that charging schedule was entirely out of my hands after I gave it a target charge and "finish charging by time".
I believe you have to have the Chargepoint charger to use Rivian today...
It seems like a non-zero percentage of Cybertruck sales have gone to influencers that are willing to destroy one for the internet clout.
It's kind of amazing that internet points can pencil out the price of a CyberTruck.
We do need a review on the nearby El Charro Loco.
I have enjoyed the Chow Hound across from the EA station. Good milkshakes.
Best food wins my charging business.
I'm still in the research phase before I get too specific on budget. I've had a few people recommend Bambu so far.
The little I've researched so far is that $500 is about the price point for a good one, and $1,300 is too rich for me at this point. I'm still early enough in learning that I...
Slightly off topic for this thread, but it seems the appropriate group to ask.
I'm thinking of buying my kids a 3d printer for Christmas. It's entirely for the kids (I swear), but it might accidentally make a few camping or Rivian related things.
I'm new enough that I'm struggling to...
I did the trip last December. I only have a minute to reply, but here's my short answers:
1. The EVGo in Winnemucca is/was in the wrong location on the Rivian Nav, and is criminally overpriced. Verify the location and see if the nearby EA pricing is any better.
2. Hotel L2 chargers are your...
Tesla has their "vote on Superchargers" process, and Hanksville came up for the first time in the last round. A few useful Wyoming locations came up too.
Hanksville is currently ranked 25 out of 600, so I think this will put it pretty high on Tesla's priority list.
I'm also happy to see the...
This trip won't win prizes for distance, but it's up there for fun and remoteness.
This map is an approximation of a solo camping trip from last summer. To get a sense of how fast charging is changing, a third of the recommended chargers on ABRP didn't exist last summer. I can also think of a...
Great project!
I've also been looking at options for 12V power for a variety of things. I'll look at this again when I'm ready to get to work.
Are you still happy with the SuperPacific? I greatly appreciated your review of it. I'm personally leaning towards GoFast or Dirtbox because of the...
I don't think they've announced anything official.
Given industry conventions, expect either a small/large choice, or maybe a small/medium/large choice.
They may choose different nomenclature such as large/max or tall/vente, but it's all the same concept.
I've done camping and some backpacking all of my life. I've never felt the need for a dedicated offroading car. One of my favorite camping trips was with my wife in the Mini Cooper she owned when we first met.
What Rivian changed is they built an amazingly capable offroad vehicle that I also...
