Very cool. This is probably more practical with actual wheels.
The GV60 MIV looks like something James Bond might be driving to go wack a villain. It was funny to see the interior shots which outside of the sport seats and the equipment harnesses still carried over from the production GV60...
My "competition for Rivian" was tongue and cheek. This is a concept that will never see the light of day in terms of production.
That said - it was introduced at Davos by Genesis and has been getting a lot of press now. Maybe Genesis (Genesis is not Hyundai and is a stand alone company now)...
One of my other EVs is a GV60 performance - and I'm a fan of it. Looks like Genesis has modified the GV60 to create a concept mountain rescue vehicle dubbed the MIV (mountain intervention vehicle).
This is unlikely to ever see the light of day - but maybe Genesis creates some of these for...
As a stockholder I am very happy to hear Rivian is exploring strategic partnerships with other OEMs.. And, I might add VW wants to deepen their partnership with Rivian.
Le me go dig up my scorecard...
There should be an option for "I'm not planning on selling."
I take the Oracle of Omaha perspective that if you believe in a company you buy and you hold.
If Rivian were to completely tank, I would try and get out with something vs. going down with the ship, but otherwise I'm not planning to...
Oil companies are subsidized at about $20b a year in the US even though they bring in billions in profit in the US and trillions globally every year. I have no problem subsidizing a domestic job producer like RIvian that is environmentally conscious and is trying to reduce our dependance on...
You can add Tesla to one of those domestic companies that received government loans. That is why the hypocrisy coming from EM on this particular loan is so astonishing.
This exactly. I only trust these systems on open stretches or when there is enough spacing between vehicles on the highway because if there is a miscalculation by the system you usually can take control and avoid calamity.
Putting your trust into these systems when there is so much to track...
I think you are onto something my esteemed forum colleague! Is it possible that they haven't opened up reservations for the R3 because they are worried that would canaabilize reservations for the R2?
I was a Day 1 reservation holder for R2 but the moment R3 comes online it's going to be raining...
@OP This was a very scary situation and I'm glad you were unscathed. Agreed it isn't acceptable and hopefully RIvian is looking into this issue since there seems to be a number of incidents in the last few months that track with what you experienced.
If it is any solace, these kinds of scary...
Yes! There have been an alarming number of posts of folks having these experiences - almost always having had just charged. A jolt, a loud noise that sounds like something exploding, and then the car dead with a critical battery error.
Too many instances for this to be an outlier.
Before Tesla, there hadn't been a new auto OEM for 100 years for a reason. It is really f'ing hard.
Comparisons to Tesla are just not appropriate because Tesla was operating in a completely different environment than Rivian is now. When Tesla was struggling, they were David fighting Goliath...
Nearly impossible to have that much degradation in such a short time unless your battery has been under extreme duress. It is almost certainly due the cold weather.
Also, don't be afraid to charge your battery. Battery degradation due to charging to a high percentage is really, really...
