  1. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I'm not going to check your math, I'll leave others to do that, but I will pose it to you this way. Rivian hasn't figured out how to sell a vehicle without losing $40K per unit sold. In order to survive as a business it is generally accepted that you need to make and not lose money on your...
  2. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

In fairness to me I was in the middle of the edit when you liked because I posted before I was finished writing. We can agree to disagree.
  3. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

We are not in disagreement on that but it isn't as simple as aiming a tariff gun at China. It is way too complex than that.
  4. Rivian Scale Model Cars Coming Soon ?

So these aren't being made in the US is what you are telling me? :)
  5. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I'm not shifting the goal posts. I'm aligning them. Tarrifs universally hurt consumers. That is well established. I never argued existing tariffs didn't hurt consumers. The planned tariffs have no comparison to any tariffs in history so you can't equivocate them to current tariffs. We...
  6. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Our tariffs now don't compare to the tariffs planned. There is no comparison.
  7. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Tariffs hurt consumers. Period. History has borne this true no matter what flavor of the spectrum you align yourself to. Cato Institute
  8. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I think believing the California CARB credit is paramount to keeping Rivian afloat is a complete red herring. $300M a year is a paltry drop in the bucket considering Rivian is losing ~1 Billion per quarter. Tesla has earned $10B because they have been at this for over a decade, have...
  9. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I'm glad you've had a really good experience. I think, based on the threads and responses in this forum it is safe to say there are a lot of folks that haven't shared that experience especially when Rivian ramped production. It isn't uncommon for first production vehicles to have higher build...
  10. Rivian Scale Model Cars Coming Soon ?

What does the government have to do with R1T availability? If I wait a year, will these be worth 40% less? J/K ?
  11. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Your post is completely nonsensical. My investment in Rivian is only relevant in the sense that I am invested in Rivian's success. You've tried to paint me as someone who is disillusioned with the state of the company but the reality is Rivian faces an incredibly difficult road in the next...
  12. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I'm sorry, when did I say Rivian was going to go the way of Fisker? Who said anything about Rivian turning a profit. I'm being realistic that Rivian has a very big hill to climb and that their survival is not guaranteed. That doesn't mean I don't think they will survive or that I'm being...
  13. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Given Rivian is losing $1B per quarter, the $300 million is a drop in the bucket. Given they are still losing $40K per vehicle, the 300 million means that Rivian gets the luxury of 7,500 of the vehicles they sell in the year actually netting zero profit instead of costing them $300 million.
  14. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

I have a lot of $$ invested in Rivian and for my sake, I hope you are right but your blind optimism isn't really warranted given the environment we are in. Rivian has been burning $1B in cash despite the 100k commitment from Amazon. They have maybe 6 quarters left before they burn through...
  15. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Tesla is going to be fine. Rivian is losing ~$1B per quarter. They are not going to be fine. The green credits are a literal drop in the bucket. Rivian is still losing ~$40K for every vehicle they sell.
  16. Rivian Scale Model Cars Coming Soon ?

All I want to know is are their two magnets holding down the frunk shelf or just one?
  17. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

Starting a car company is exceedingly difficult. Before Tesla, there hadn't been a new auto OEM in the US for 100 years for a reason. All OEMs not named Telsa,, Rivian, and Lucid rely on legacy ICE $$ sales to offset the Billions in losses from their EV sales. Rivian has been losing Billions...
  18. Trump to kill EV tax credit (11/14/24 article) -- [ADMIN WARNING: INFRACTIONS ISSUED FOR VIOLATING NO POLITICS RULE]

By not allowing Rivian, in its infancy, to get the same 200K in vehicles (which BTW is pointless since that 200K limit was removed in the last version of the bill) that its competitors did when they were launching their EVs initially, it puts Rivian at a severe disadvantage. Nearly every OEM...
