Same solution for the lack of a TV remote back then, right? And home automation for lights or ceiling fans. Or automated lawn mowers... The list goes on!
Kids truly are are the gift that keeps on giving.
Yeah, that's yet another way Tesla did 85kWh battery owners dirty. The charge throttling—even on rarely fast-charged batteries—is almost a crime. All so they can save some money and not replace battery packs under warranty.
We're coming up on the end of year 7 of our warranty, and...
Oh, I'm 100% Yellow (at least, unless I finally see one in person and hate it for some absurd reason), but I was excited to finally see one of the other mystery colors delivered. I believe this only leaves photos of Compass Yellow being delivered for each of the colors to be in at least one...
I feel like the 115mph limiter on the Rivian is a good thing, because it might keep me out of jail. (Saying this as a person who's done a few dumb things in his Model S in the past.)
My wife and I were discussing it, we it's possible think they have separate lines running in the plant, and only merge the EV line and the ICE line near the end.
The GMC Acadia being built there is the same platform as the Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave, but interestingly both of those are...
This is a great idea, I might use some black vinyl on the default 20" wheel (floating staples), since I saw the photo of those as pre-production samples the other day and it looked pretty sharp. Doing the staples in a slightly different finish would look really sharp (like a black gloss or...
You make a good point here. These are vehicles built for the driver first, not the passengers. Almost everything that makes the R1 vehicles special isn't designed around people hauling.
I agree. They really need to work on these renders. This is also apparent when comparing every single photo of Compass Yellow with the render. The render is downright ugly & brown in comparison to what I've been told is the real color.
I truly believe this: one of the best things about Rivian right now is that they have enough colors that everyone can choose something they love and enjoy. As someone on team yellow, I'm beyond ecstatic that they have not one, but four legitimate vehicle colors (red, green, blue, yellow), three...
Great video, lots of little details. I really like what Rivian has done so far!
I mentioned this on Reddit, but I was really happy to see the ability to not auto-unfold the mirrors.
It's a regular nuisance on our Model S, which used to only unfold the mirrors when you opened the driver's door...
Based on the white & launch green in those photos, I feel like the corrected photo is significantly closer to an accurate representation. I've seen both of those, and I'd describe the white as "warm white", and I'd describe the launch green as "muddy army green".
Even the sliver of Rivian blue...
Yeah, I was wondering about 3D printing some inserts. Could even 3D print the rough shape then use that as a mold to cast higher quality ones.
I was thinking the same sort of thing for adding caps back to the 21" wheels for local driving. (The difference there is those wheels seem rather ugly...
Honestly those look pretty sharp with the inserts. If it even gained back 2% of the range on the highway, I'd be interested in adding those back in. I'm guessing it just didn't add up in practice.
That reminds me of owning a Tesla (in Kentucky) in 2015. I always had to explain to people that Tesla was it's own company, not some subsidiary of another company. It's often kind of fun.
Now when I tell people I'm looking at Rivian, I get some of the same questions. Though at this point at...
I definitely haven't done the math on it. If the max range of the R1S on 21" wheels is ~340 miles in conserve, then that would be a 30% increase over our current range, with what appears to be roughly the same total charging time. Or maybe it's better to look at it as an extra 80 miles, since...
I'm getting a little concerned about the charging curve since we eventually want to replace our 2015 Model S with an R1S as our daily/trip vehicle.
Right now, we can get around 260 miles of max range on the Model S in good weather. (This is down from the original 270 miles 6.5 years ago.) On...
