  1. Test drove F150 Lariat Lightning ER today, my thoughts

It's quicker and far better handling than any other full size truck I've test driven. No issues putting it exactly where I wanted it to go. The range difference is kind of irrelevant for my use case, and you likely know what the published numbers are. While there may be several people cross...
  2. Test drove F150 Lariat Lightning ER today, my thoughts

Simply put, the Lightning is more mature as an overall product. The storage solutions are better executed (IMO), it's quieter than the R1T, and is heralded by many reviewers as the best F-150 "available". I've driven both within the last week, and the Lightning I drove was a Pro. Despite...
  3. DIY Tonneau Repairs? Anyone try to do this yet?

Certainly looks like the design is destined to fail based on the wear patterns. Materials aren't durable enough to hold up against any grit destined to get in, and side to side tolerances might also be an issue based on the wear to the "panel end caps with the rack gear teeth. Finally, the end...
  4. Rivian's Body on Frame Architecture overview - on Sandy Munro

You can tell the difference between the F-150 Lightning and the R1T because of this difference. There's good and bad points to it, now having driven both vehicles within the last week. R1T - More responsive and sporty feeling, though the suspension tuning certainly plays a role here. F-150...
  5. Got this email from Rivian just now - R1T shop

Not for me, but it looks like I finally get a chance to drive one at least. Was finally able to schedule a First Drive for this weekend.
  6. Ford Mach E sales halted, 49,000 vehicles affected by safety issue

It's possible that limited real wold usage hasn't allowed a similar issue to show up in Rivian's fleet. Contrast that with the number of Mach E's that have been delivered and seen an entire set of seasons and the varied conditions that go along with them. I'm not implying that this will happen...
  7. The looming recession & your place in line for a Rivian [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Not all free money is created equally. Free money that feeds actual productivity (and real increase in GDP - both $ and unit volumes increasing) isn't nearly as inflationary as that injected into a stagnant economy that was shut down. Too much money fighting for an inadequate supply of goods...
  8. The looming recession & your place in line for a Rivian [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

If "free" money is on the table, take it every time. Did the same for my 2105 GC diesel.
  9. The looming recession & your place in line for a Rivian [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

On top of that, consider that most are being leased just in order for them to be "affordable".
  10. ? My F-150 Lightning Arrived! Comparison & Opinions Quick Take vs my R1T

Incorrect. Standard battery version (230 mile) is available to the public/non-fleet buyers. The extended range version (320 miles) is limited to fleet sales only.
  11. The looming recession & your place in line for a Rivian [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

It's not possible to decouple them - two sides of the same coin if you would. You've had the global economy flooded with countless billions of currency with greatly reduced productivity/industrial output. We've just begun to see the rotten fruits of the dumb fiscal policies. This was going to...
  12. ? My F-150 Lightning Arrived! Comparison & Opinions Quick Take vs my R1T

If only I had known how good the Lightning was going to be I would have reserved one. I would have flipped the R1T and gotten a Lightning Pro for almost nothing. The window to make $40-50k on an R1T flip is rapidly shrinking, so I may completely bail on the R1T, and get in line for a 2023...
  13. The looming recession & your place in line for a Rivian [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

You also forgot the broken supply chains, a border invasion, and "leadership" that has their collective heads up their asses.
  14. RED CANYON Rivian Photos

That will certainly be a unique combination.
  15. F150 LIGHTNING now being delivered -- first one to retail customer today

Test drove a Lightning Pro this afternoon. For the price, it simply can't be beat - 230 mile range limitation aside. It's quick, quiet, and really poised for its size. An excellent all-around effort by Ford on the Lightning. I could certainly live with it and do without the R1T's trick...
  16. New proposed Federal rules on building EV charging stations (to obtain federal subsidies)

Government does nothing efficiently, expect them to screw this up as well. Rest assured people in congress will have. already invested in the companies that receive the contracts. The chargers will be overpriced, and provided they ever get delivered, will be substandard. Solyndra part 2...
  17. Several Rivian R1Ts spotted in Kenya

So who got scammed out of their R1T by a Kenyan "prince"?
  18. Lightning towing looks like it’ll be a little less efficient than R1T.

So physics wins regardless of fuel type. The primary difference being distance between refueling stops and the availability of fueling stations.
