  1. R1 DM behavior question

For those of you with dual motors, curious if you have a similar behavior on your R1 in All Purpose mode. I have observed routinely that if I am driving under 35 mph and hit a decent pothole or bump that the rear motor will reengage for about 30 seconds. I have gotten to the point I can almost...
  2. Ceramic tint the windshield?

I did full ceramic on all windows including sunroof and windshield. Makes a huge difference here in Houston.
  3. UPDATED RANT: Rivian Service Centers are a poorly managed drain on the company

First service in the books for me. Here are my thoughts. 1. Scheduling was straightforward and could have gotten an earlier date if I had been available during that time. 3 weeks between time of issue to availability at Houston SC. Vehicle was still functioning, but I was getting random...
  4. "All Wheel Drive Permanently Engaged" & "Motor Fault Detected"; Will not drive w/o reboots

I'm getting the same error, but not preventing me from doing anything.
  5. "All Wheel Drive Permanently Engaged" & "Motor Fault Detected"; Will not drive w/o reboots

Getting my R1S back today. Being told the 4x4 notification at the startup is going to be fixed on a future firmware update and that the vehicle is operating as it should other than the temporary notification.
  6. "All Wheel Drive Permanently Engaged" & "Motor Fault Detected"; Will not drive w/o reboots

No, happened after 2 months of ownership and after I received the battery fault which appears to be the 12V system issue. They replaced the 12V and are now working on diagnosing the motor. Will update when I know more.
  7. "All Wheel Drive Permanently Engaged" & "Motor Fault Detected"; Will not drive w/o reboots

My DM R1S is in service right now being diagnosed for this exact error. Waiting on field techs to determine what might be wrong.
  8. Electrify America unveils Indoor Flagship Charging Station (opened Feb 9, 2024)

This is a great conceptual idea that could turn into the convenience store of the future, but poorly executed in the wrong location. EV charging companies need to get wise to the fact they have a captive audience for longer than a typical gas station. If they use these locations to profit off...
  9. Advice on Minor (Comestic) Damage to R1S

Try a little polishing compound. I use it all the time for minor scratches and works most of the time.
  10. Week 2 review of R1S

Thanks! That first route is what we took coming back from KC
  11. Wall charger WiFi needed?

After about 30 attempts over 2 days, I finally got my wall charger to connect to WiFi and completed the setup. In order to get it to work, I had to create a guest account with no spaces, temporarily turn off 5ghz and move one of the mesh points practically next to the outside wall where the...
  12. Week 2 review of R1S

Not at all. Just wanted to make sure folks knew I was concerned with the charging curve and distance between reliable charging stations.
  13. Week 2 review of R1S

Yes, first EV and we expected it to be slower, but we also parked next to a Kia EV6 and it was charging above 100kw until it reached 80% where we dipped below 100kw around 70%. Also, while I agree we are spending more time charging to higher levels, we had to in Oklahoma to avoid crap stations...
  14. Week 2 review of R1S

After a year and a half of waiting, we picked up Baymax on 12/23/23. It was worth the wait! 2024 R1S DM, GW, FE, with black 20”. What challenged us initially was how quickly we had it delivered. We got a text on Saturday 12/16 telling us the R1S was being put on a train and would be ready...
  15. Suggesting our own Rivian Wave

Feels like we're making this too hard. Why not just hold up one finger (index finger) and when the R2 models come out they hold up two fingers. Casual waves for R1 and R2 owners. EDV drivers can hold up three fingers sideways ;)
