If you decide going this route is the right plan, you could set your charge limit to 50%, then raise it a few days before arriving. At ~1 kW rate of charge from a 120 outlet, you'd need ~65 hours to get to 100%. If you even need to get that high . If you don't need 100% at your place, raise it...
My first question would be how often are you going to visit it? I haven't read the Rivian user guide on long-term storage, but most EV manufacturers (and all battery experts) would recommend storing it at ~50% charge for anything long-term.
I don't charge my EVs anywhere near 100% on a...
I'd still plan on giving yourself plenty of lead time - the rush will continue for A2Z as other auto makers get access to Tesla SCs and have the same adapter needs.
This is the way. Speed at the top end has such a huge impact. Even 75 vs 80 is a big difference in efficiency. The other thing you can do if you find it getting tight is tuck in behind something big. A little drafting will make a big difference.
As you get to learn your vehicle, stretching more...
You'd have made it. At that range I'd have monitored my speed and been easy on the accelerator, but would have had no qualms about making it.
We're new to the R1T world, but I've arrived home with single-digit miles left in my Lightning multiple times. The puckering becomes less intense after...
I don't have all the issues the OP does, but fine movements sure are challenging. It's mainly due to having to overcome the hold, and makes parking very close to something in front or behind, or particularly backing up to a trailer, quite challenging. It's much harder than in my F-150 Lightning...
The $7500 is the bulk of the difference - you are getting that with a lease, not with a purchase.
The remaining $3-4k in your scenario can certainly be attributed to financing rates. Perhaps slightly better rates are available for the leasing program right now. You'd really have to dig in to...
You should love these prices if you get to charge there - at $.40/min when charging hits 200kW, you're paying $.12/kWh. I'm hitting this sucker every time I'm driving to Wichita!
As stated above, it has something to do with utility laws in Kansas, but some of the networks have switched, so I'm...
We just picked ours up a week ago and it wasn't included. We're on the list for install with no timeline.
There doesn't seem to be a way to tell if they'll actually arrive with the cover installed.
Gas stations have been around for a century, everyone uses them, and occasionally people still put diesel in their gasoline vehicle.
EVs are new, and I sure want to be supportive of people learning. Mistakes are going to be made. We can ridicule or educate. Outcomes vary.
It's definitely not helpful to hear this, but all vehicles have some very small percentage of failures right out of the gate. Someone's brand new ICE F-150 right off the lot this year is going to have an engine component fail, or a transmission go out, or the infotainment system brick. Or the 12...
I hear you - that's frustrating. I'm sorry it's happened to you. But, I can also almost guarantee you aren't going to get a replacement vehicle over it, and then you have to weigh whether it's worth it to have them take it apart and put it back together.
I'm in agreement with the comment above...
In answer to your question, the Rivian is less efficient at adding miles because it's less efficient going down the road. Has (next to) nothing to do with battery tech and everything to do with being a large, heavy SUV.
It's the same reason a 4Runner is less efficient than a Camry.
Highly recommend A2Z as it adds tons of options. You can also use RAN, EA, EVGo, etc and have lots of options, but the additional Tesla SC sites that are available make a huge difference in most places, if only in additional options that increase road tripping confidence.
All that said, most...
I've had both good and bad experiences at Colby. And that's the reason I like the data-driven approach (at least in theory - we'll see if it holds up in real usage) as it won't be driven by anecdotal experiences and user error or unfamiliarity. If I go by Colby twice and have ones good...
It's based on accumulated ratings - if stalls just went down it won't impact the ratings. Any idea how long they've been down? If stalls go down but are quickly brought back online, that may not impact ratings.
What's unclear is what happens when some stalls are down but Rivian owners charge...
I'm new to Rivian so haven't learned the quirks of its charging curve nor even been out to test it, but I've charged my Lightning at that Abilene EVConnect multiple times and it's been very solid, topping out in the 170s which is very near the fastest you can get with a Lightning. I wonder if...
I'm not the original poster, but in the same boat. A2Z has worked great with my F-150 Lightning. Flawless (other than I had to experiment a couple times to get the locking mechanism to work - now that I know how "locked" feels I have no issues).
My Ford-supplied Tesla adapter arrived two weeks...
